Single Speed Mini-Velo Ebike - Advice Please

I highly recommend Luna. I've spent quite a bit of money with Eric and won't hesitate to spend more. I have the Luna cargo frame, a 52v battery, and a bunch of odds and ends. My experience has been great. Eric has given top notch customer service. Jeremy

Luna / LR Big Block build

I never had the need for a torque brace for either of my IGH's- they would break before spinning in the dropouts. Now that I'm running a single speed and towing heavy loads, I was worried about the axle spinning. So far, that hasn't happened, even with running a 20T. I have a similar chain...

Luna / LR Big Block build

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. The weight of this frame plus my weight (225lbs) is too much for the IGH's. That's why I wanted to go single speed with a Whipperman/Connex 1R8. Set it up and forget about it. I can actually run the bike at full power now!!!!! It's an absolute monster...

Luna / LR Big Block build

Been a while since I posted an update. I blew up the N360 on the first serious ride and the Nexus 3 didn't last long either. I was debating on whether to spend the money on the Rohloff or go the single speed route. I ultimately chose the single speed for the simplicity and reliability. I'm...

LR Big Block and Luna Cargo Frame

I found that trimming off the two middle mounting tabs allowed my battery to drop right in. There's no need for six bolts to hold the side panel on. What rear hub / gear system are you planning on? So far I've run an N360 (broke it on my first hard ride by accidentally punching the throttle)...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

I just read where someone spread the forks to take a 170mm hub. If I could pull that off, could I get 5 gears? You know my application. I'm looking for low speed and power. Jeremy

    Luna in Canada build

My N360's chain line was good enough to work and it was 135mm. Any plans to sell your N171? I know what you mean about the bike being big. I have 26" fat tires on mine and can barely touch the tips of me toes. I'm 6' tall. Jeremy

    LightningRods mid drive kit

Mike, Can you give a description of the HD gear set you are working on? Will it work in the Luna frame? Eric has mentioned a few times to me that it's difficult to get a derailleur setup to work on the Luna. What kind of cost are we looking at? I got a 3 speed Nexus based on some...

Questions about a HD 3 Speed Gear Set

Hey guys, Some of you may remember the Luna/LR BB combo I put together a few months ago. All was well until I hit the throttle a bit harder than anticipated and the NV360 made a loud bang and no longer provided forward motion. The bike has been sitting ever since as I've explored my options...

    Lunacycle Cargo Bike Info Request

Sorry for the delayed response! Sounds like the same issue I had. It's an easy fix. I used a heavy rope and twisted it with a wrench to pull the two bars closer together. This allowed the drive to sit flat. You're not going to be able to 'pound' the bars into place. Jeremy

pkirkll, Sorry for the delayed reply! I have 26" wheels with 26x4 Vee Mission tires. --------------------------------------------------------- I took the beast out for a shakedown run on one of my favorite hunting properties. The climb is about 1100' over 1.5 miles. I did a straight run up...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

I'm using a 52v 20ah from Luna. It easily fits the battery box (but you have to trim off at least one of the middle tabs that is used to mount the cover). I also used pieces of an old 1/2" thick foam sleeping pad to cushion the battery and keep it from rattling around in the box. I'm afraid...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

Here's my two cents on Mike and Lightning Rods: I started looking for a more efficient and quiet hunting vehicle around this time last year. I contacted Mike about putting his Small Block on my HardRock. I told him that I was also talking to Eric about the Luna frame. Mike's immediate...

Luna / LR Big Block build

The replacement pulley arrived from Mike today! It took me about 10 minutes to replace it and get things put back together. My initial impression of the Luna/LR Big Block/N360 combo follows: Being a bit more cautious at my ripe old age of 36, I have my CA3 set to 2500w and I started out with...

Luna / LR Big Block build

It was pretty easy to get the Luna drive in. I ran into an issue with the Luna frame not being symmetrical, but that was an easy fix. The two braces that the drive sits against were out of square and too wide so the bottom plate of the drive couldn't sit flat against the mounting plate on the...
