    Bike prices..... WTF?

Yeah, for some of us, 1k is not in the budget for a donor bike. In fact, my complete 52v cyclone3000 build was about 1k total to build.

    Bike prices..... WTF?

The bike market of yesteryear is gone. It was split into two markets years ago. The "Walmart bike" market and the high-end market. Unfortunately, there isn't much in between. Because the bottom of the market is saturated with fantastically cheap, disposable bikes, it makes the concept of...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I believe you want the larger bottom bracket for your application, but that is a guess. The kit is available from luna, as well as Sick Bike Parts, where I purchased it from. The controller hooks directly to motor leads, both hall sensor and power lines. The kit is about 90% plug and play, only...

a storm is brewing on the mountain

That's a damn good price. Care to share source? I bought a 52v 11.5 pack made with 18650s for about twice that price about 18 months ago.

a storm is brewing on the mountain

All my builds (gas and electric)have had a foundation of a old Craigslist bike, and a couple department store bikes. The simple fact is that none of them are ready for a 3000 watt mid-drive powertrain. Why does this suprise anybody? The same can be said of most any bicycle under $1k. I often...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

It has been a while since I posted in here. Here is my new cyclone build. Just completed trial runs, just need to re-fab top motor mount and replace wood block with an aluminum box to tuck the wires into. Then, it's on to bike upgrades like a fork that does not suck.

    Only the poor want ebikes

markz, Chalo, amberwolf; Oh I try to explain the many clear advantages of an ebike, but most people just can't get past the initial cost.

    Only the poor want ebikes

So far, I've had a few homeless people and a bunch people driving $500 cars ask me about my ebike, and one guy in a nice car. Granted, it's a homebuilt franken-bike. So here in urban Indianapolis, yes, the poor are far more interested in my gas and electric bikes. You know what sucks? When I'm...

How QUICKLY was your Cyclone Mid Drive delivered IN THE MAIL

I got mine from Sick Bike Parts, took about a week, if I remember it right. However, that was over a year ago, I have no idea what their turnaround time is at the moment. I am very pleased with Sick Bike Parts and Pablo's support.

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

It's on the road, running well. The mounts were definately flexing at times. So I replaced the mounting bolts with fully threaded rods and replaced all the spacers with nuts, then made a left side plate to attach them to the motor, like robocam's. That has mostly taken care of the flex. And...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I got the kit installed. Test runs on pedal power went well, no derailments. My battery arrived a few days ago. I plan on carrying battery in backpack once I figure out a detachable power leash system. For now I just strapped battery pack to the top bar of the bike frame. Plugged everything...

So, back to the main subject of this thread, Paul at Sick Bike Parts is sending me a new adapter for my freewheel, as you all saw, great customer support. Thanks go to robocam for helping me get in touch with Paul (Pablo), as Jim is currently away from work. I freed up some money by selling...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Here is the thing, your assuming the system works as a complete singular mass, but it doesnt. I don't know the terminology as well as I should, but it seems you keep referring to center of gravity, but I think you should be considering moment of inertia and center of inertia instead. Let us...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

In truth, when you break down the physics of a cycle, there is all kinds of stuff your brain is doing that you don't ever realize. For example, on a motorcycle, to turn left you have to turn the handlebars right. In fact, you never turn the handlebars left to turn left. Once you settle into a...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Mark, I definately agree that centralizing the mass within the frame will lower the moment of inertia, which is a good thing. I never claimed that a overly high center of gravity is good. However, I don't see carrying the battery in a backpack as increasing the CoG, as far as how the bike sees...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

How many of these riders are sitting when encountering obstacles this vid. https://youtu.be/bVHchm5NIZc Seems to me they are using their body to improve handling, moving forward and back, side to side, altering the center of gravity to suit the current needs of the terrain. That's how I see...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Ass on the seat? Yeah, your not going to be able to take advantage of using your body to improve handling if your sitting on the seat the whole time. Just like on a motorcycle on a roadcourse, your never sitting on the seat unless your tucked in, going down the straights. We can just disagree...

    new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I dont know, a battery in a backpack makes sense to me. We all know that moving unsprung weight inboard to become sprung weight is a good way to improve handling for a few reasons. And in a sense, pulling the battery off the frame and into a backpack does the same thing, effectively making that...
