My mrs wants to dump the junk in her trunk as she has a nerve problem in one arm and cant always take the weight of her current 30kg beast. I think Iv found a motor I like but wonder what controller is best for the smoothest control. She is happy with 500watts but her DD hub gives no hill climbing and would like some torque. Money isnt too much of an issue right now and like the sound of the new sine wave stuff.
Id like this motor or one very like it (pancake shape) setup like this running through my 3 speed sturmey archer hub.

at 100kv I think I will get 2000-2400rmp on 6s. Taken down by a 13t-89t 6mm chain sprocket to 300-340rmp at the wheel for around 23mph in 2nd gear (1:1). Then 17mph in 1st(0.75%) and 30mph in 3rd(1.33%). Although 3rd may not be used as she hasnt got the right bike gears to keep up, only having a dh chain ring upfront. I also realise having this upfront isnt perfect safety wise so speed should be kept down. The hub has endured 350watts for 400 miles perfectly so far. So it will hopefully end up 15mph for road use and 22 for offroad fun.
I could reduce the 13t cog to 10-12t if it will help the sensorless motor to work better at higher rpms. Or just lump with a 10t/89t setup with no sturmey for 17mph max.
I dont think I want to try and sensor up a motor so will this run like rubbish? I read this article recently that says allot of generic controllers slip in and out of sensored and sensorless mode by default as it see's fit. My infineon keeps changing note after a big speed increase or decrease on a mac motor. It sounds bad so I release the throttle, reapply and it sounds nice again like it has switched mode or resynced. Weird. So can I use any old 500w controller like the ones shown below or should I get something special. I have the 500w conhis 24v one but I think its halls only. Nothings set in stone or ordered so Suggestions welcome, thanks for reading.
