Any clubbing scientists out there?

Scissor sisters ftw.

Crossposting from the "2nd class citizen thread" b/c it's extremely relevant to here:

Last night, I pulled what may have been a first in the US - I rode my ebike to a nightclub. I was fully expecting and prepared to feel like a second-class citizen, but it actually worked out pretty well. I got some looks rolling up, but I just locked up to a fence in the parking structure next to the valet booth, gave the valet a couple bucks to "keep an eye on 'er", and was off to the dancefloor. Granted, if I had been trying to bring someone home, this would not have worked as well ;).

Too bad Japan trains and subways don't allow bicycles, would've been nice to cruise to and from the beach parties on hot summer nights. Taxis are rare in the area at dawn.. many times, I had to stagger my drunk ass back to the station about 4 miles away for the first train home. FYI Drunk riding is not dangerous, it's just impossible ! LOLOLOLO 1

Don't have any new mixes but I will share a mix I'm sure you all will enjoy.

I wanted to share this mix with you guys as well - not mine, but I was listening to it last night and almost crapped my pants.

This is done by Krafty Kuts (for the first hour) & Judge Jules - Krafty is my DJ hero, I'm not gay, but I'd swing for him if he asked haha.

Give it a listen and prepare to be amazed.

This was streaming live last night from BCM club in Magaluf, on Majorca, an island off the coast of Spain. Amazing what the internet can do - we can now be "in the club" from half a world away.

Also, for those who are interested, the same radio station will be streaming Tiesto live from BCM on Wed July 8 - I can post the link if you want.

Worked my way thru this thread from the start... All of your mix links are deader than doornails. :(

And even though it's replying to a post from way way back, just wanted to say that I kind of miss my Vic20, it's superslow cassette tape drive, and the awful reboots I used to get on it from the power glitches we always had in rural northeast Texas....ok, I don't actually miss THOSE, because they always happened right after I'd gotten 99% of the way thru typing in some program. ;)

I think after a while, I used it to play the cartridge game Omega Race more than anything else.

I'm really curious what the mixes were like....being a (bad) musician/composer, I like to hear what others do; it's always interesting, even when it's not my "style". :)

Hey Dee Jay good to see your broadening your cultural horizons er? uhm? I think. :?

Anyways publish some torrents already, bung the old mixes on 'da bay'!

I don't listen to much music like this.. and despite my own music's repetitititititititiveness, I kinda got irritated by the cymbal bits (my Asperger's makes me ultra-irritable at certain sound patterns), when they just kept going on and on over the whole mix (if they were quieter, it would have been ok).

But that's just me and my brain, and not a problem with the mix itself. :)

Thanks! Unfortunately I haven't had time or inclination to try doing much of anything lately (year or two), so the ASR88 and the softsynths and SONAR all sit unused. :(

It's your thread, and I don't want to derail it, but which ones did you like most, and why? Or, which ones did you *not* like and why?

Can't get into much details at the moment.

I was listening to it on Bluetooth headphones because I was running around doing other things so it was a bit of pain having to walk to my computer to click on the track... I couldn't find a way to play all the tracks continuously on one player. Continuous listening helps me get the feel of the entire album.

First impression was...the choice of sounds are really pleasant. The rhythm is definitely not monotonous. Mysterious but not scary. The kind of music I would put on my family photos & vids (Home DVD).

One of my favorite electronica musicians is Nathan Fake, have you heard his music?

J

Not yet, but I probably will in a few minutes. ;)

On the opporknockitytunes site you'd have to download the files and play them all in your favorite player. On soundclick if instead of the main page you go to the music page linked above and below the list of songs:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=675355&content=music
there's a "hi-fi" play button in the line:
MUSIC > lo-fi > hi-fi | 22 songs available
that will bring up a player window to stream all of them. But it isn't really an "album", just a bunch of songs uploaded in sort-of the order they were created.

I have several dozen hours of music in various states of completion, most of which isn't up on the web anywhere (used to be on MP3.com until they screwed me over the last time, years ago, then they went away).

Hey Reid,

It took me some time to understand your comments as I was assuming you haven't listened to my mix when you posted it ... I guess you were able to appreciate the Donna Summer - Love To Love You trance remix. She was indeed the Disco Goddess! Not God. Unless of course you know something I don't !

IMO, disco never died, it just trance-formed. Back in the day, I to used shop for vinyl at a dance record shop owned by gays. I brought my buddy there one day for the first time and he hollered, "yo where are your disco records at?" The gay DJ / cashier was behind the decks spinning music and he said "DISCO"? ! Nobody calls it disco anymore! It's called 'Hi NRG' now, man!" Cool points off...

How did you like the Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence movie theme trance remix ?

J

PS: And you are right, I am Pagan whether I want to be or not. :D

Nope, not a new mix, sorry.

But my post on this thread -
View attachment Picture 5.png
http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=14032&p=210157#p210157

- inspired me to dig up yet another old mix which contains an X-press 2 & David Bryne song "Lazy" along with many other great tracks.

It's a shorter mix than my usual one hour and ten+ minutes mixes and I cut it even shorter to 50 minutes to get a better quality at just under 50 mb. The last song got a bit too dark anyway...

Prease Enjoy & Happy Friday!

EDIT:  Woops, got some glitches on this file... or is it just my 'puter ?

will upload a better file soon.

I never laughed so hard in my life.

Hey, nice mix! And great tracks! Thanks for contributing to this podcast thread.

Been a bit busy with my laptop. Baby dropped it, so I fixed it...then AC adapter fails (under warrantee) ..fix one thing, something else falls apart. Laptops are useless without AC adapters

I also have a new mix in the works, will upload soon.

And I'll be getting into my hub motor repair project very soon.

J

Two mixes from wax from when I used to play out till a couple of years ago when I quit full time dj'ing. 1st one is underground house in a bumping style. Think Grant Nelson, Ben Watts or Naked Music style. 2nd one is more funky house.
