anyother reason to have separate charge and discharge wires?

making a battery.
every battery i see has separate charge and discharge wires.
the only reason im thinking is so you dont have to disconnect the load to charge.

if i just have my charge and discharge as the same wire/connecter is that frowned upon?
i plan on having my battery removeable and i wouldnt need to charge when it is connected to the load anyways.

btw i have common port bms

Yes just one pair is fine in that scenario.

I would also bring out the balance leads, make the BMS easily removed/replaced.

Make them accessible, so you can easily use different devices for balancing and monitoring at the cell / group level.

And disconnect or swap out the BMS
