So if you buy a BBS02B your throttle is really just an on/off button, and apparently it's been this way for years. So is it possible to upgrade the controller to something that works correctly, without breaking the bank?
These folks want $484, and they don't even mention the "B" version. This is a large cost relative to the original kit (basically more than a new motor!), and it's unclear if it would even work:

This controller mentions "You will be able to use a throttle only mode in PAS0 unlike inexpensive units purchased directly from China and not custom program", but it's only available for version A so it's useless to me:

Are there any other available controllers for the BBS02B that don't completely suck, and aren't ridiculously expensive? If not, this is another reason not to buy a BBS02/BBSHD kit and go with a hub motor:

I'm really surprised by how flawed the BBS02B is in practice, when you buy one and actually use the thing. It seems the popularity of the BBS02 seems to be actually based on the merits of the previous BBS02A model, not the B model.
