Construction of Electric Chopper

A work of functional art! It doesn't get any better than this! Great job.
The design and implementation is space flight quality! This is my favorite picture: The hours that went into just those pieces, perfectly designed, perfectly implemented. WOW!
EDIT: I just looked at the pictures above on my good monitor... another double WOW! Someone is a professional photographer also!

Is that a home made brake caliper? seems to be missing the opposite part,
What a build!

How heavy is the 6-speed Suzuki gearbox, excluding the attached motor?
Do you get to use all six gears? Sounded like you only need the first four, now I reread the second time.
What is the speed for the 23Wh/km figure?
I do not remember the weight of the individual components
Need all 6 gears, I just have not been out of town.
23 Watts per hour is the average parameter in all gears

No, it is industrial production, see the topic.

eMoped here, I too am in awe. LOVE the build !!! I have shown to my son. Do you have any plans to sell ??? I have been a fan of the Electra Bikes too ... But they do not as you said use the best parts or materials for our purposes.( see: Black Sheep Bikes , Colorado , USA ) You can email me at jorgytwo@gmail.com for further discussion if you like. Question: Are pedals just for stealth bicycle look (do the work to start bike or if loss of power ? ) Peace.

This is just pure porn, I come to this thread and drool almost every time i open ES..

Just gorgeous. Gold label bike porn...

ilia-45,
i have made an electric chopper out of a schwinn stingray chopper
really simple 6 lead acid batteries and a hub motor that i laced into the back wheel
but now that i see this, i am truly inspired!
I am a certified machinist, but i have not used the machines in a few years.
i do plan on taking more college level machining classes soon.
and i have access to lathes and mills in my own home.
i at least want to do what you did connecting a motor directly to a motorcycle's gearbox
i think that was brilliant
you give me hope for the future, it looks bright
if we could just convince the world leaders to stop destroying the world, the future really could be bright
but anyway back to that machine work of your's
that headlight is amazing, it looks like the design came straight out of the top of the Orthanc, from LOTR the two towers
and the whole bike looks better than anything on the streets of america, including the lamborgini.
impressive work
you give electric bikes a good name, ilia

I am very glad that you like my work, and so also hope that you will soon start your project, i will watch with pleasure :!:

is there any chance we could get a video of this bike going from 0 to top speed?
i wanna see what its like for this bike to shift thru the gears to it's top speed, and how it looks going down the road

The video will be eventually, but for now I do not have time for it, too much work, I'm working on a prototype of the production model chopper, in the same style
it will be, with the motor in the rear wheel 1000W 48V

motor in the rear wheel?
but that would mean there is no ability to shift gears to gain speed without increasing power to the motor.
doesnt the gearbox-motor design of the original make the bike more efficient, than that of a rear wheel motor?
wouldnt it be slower?
are you just kidding? tell me you are kidding

will somebody set up cameras out there in isreal to catch this bike in action?
im sure this guy has been riding it.
somebody must have seen him
im sure somebody with a camera can at least catch a video of this bike riding by
how about the local isreali news crew?
BREAKING NEWS: our camera crews caught video of the coolest electric bike on the planet riding by
is that an electric transmission? how epic is that?

how long does it take to make a video, seriously
it was the end of last year when this ilia-45 said video coming soon
3 months later and no video
and i dont count that video of the chopper sitting stationary in his workshop with the motor running,
the back wheel didnt even spin, the transmission was not engaged,
we only heared the motor running.

you know we all want to see the bike run down the road,
maybe put it on a drag strip to see how fast it goes from 0 to top speed,
set up a camera on the helmet too, for driver view
i wanna hear the bike as it shifts gears

please ilia-45, i know you have friends that own video cameras and would help you make this video
i have been checking this thread for video for months, im disappointed

yeah man!!!!!!!!! way to go that is one awesome machine you have built there. I would like to see some videos of it in action.

The speed will be the same-as with gears just cheaper to make, not everyone wants to shell out a lot of money

I'm terribly sorry but i somehow not found the time to make a video :(
I never thought that someone would be waiting for it ,i traveled almost 1000 kilometers and forget about video

It is a MASTERPIECE, and most aesthetic, as well as practical, as you point out.
Patience and Skill combined does wonders !

I had that idea myself of using a small motorcycle gearbox, but not the tools to pull it off.

What is the make/model of that beautiful Cobalt Blue speedometer/odometer ?

Are the brakes by cable or hydraulic ?

Thank You for sharing your work.
Are you going to put it in some show or exhibit ?
:)

Thanks, I'm glad you like my chopper 8)
As for the speedometer it is motorcycle item manufactured by KOSO.
Brakes are hydraulic
I built it not for show,so no exhibits

so your really not gonna show us anymore?
are you cutting us off?
geez, what did we do to you?
i for one, would like to see an exibit right here, in the form of video.
take the chopper to a race track, or just a block in the neighborhood and race around a little bit with camera crew set up along the track
and a little first person view camera so we can see what it's like riding the bike and hear the motor/gearbox working.
if you were living in america, i would have traveled with camera crew to make these videos for you.
but you live across the oceans so there is nothing i can do but hope you can get your own people to make a video with you.
im sure there must be somebody in isreal that is willing to be your camera crew.
