Consumer Upgrades and Parts for Bosch mid-drive motors?

How consumer upgrade and repair friendly are the Bosch mid-drive motors?

Can the consumer fix the motors themselves with parts that they can easily purchase from the bike shop?

Is anyone making aftermarket parts or upgrade kits for the Bosch mid-drives.

Is anyone doing modifications and upgrades on these mid-drives?

From what little I've seen here and there, Bosch is as proprietary as others, so parts for the actual system itself are likely to be unavailable. You'd probably have to have it serviced by a Bosch dealer, at best; they probably won't sell parts for it.

Also, if the one you're looking at is like the stuff I've seen posted on ES about them, your bike frame has to be built specifically to mount it to; it isnt' a retrofit to an existing bike frame.
