As I'm riding down a hill using regen, my motor goes from nearly silent to producing a grinding noise/feeling. I checked the connections and they are fine, could it be a damaged hall sensor? The motor would occasionally spin from a standstill (still grinding) sometimes I will get no response from the throttle unless I give the wheel a little push. I've read through some other threads and I intend on checking the hall sensors and running some diagnostic tests when I get home.

I checked the halls when I got home and they're all fine.. I tried the motor on another controller and it works! But that means my controller is toast. I opened it up and it looks like theres rosin on tracing on the underside of the PCB. The two caps on the end look slightly puffed out. I also noticed the same rosin residue on bk and gnd, the regen related circuit. Which makes sense because I was using regen.. I'm guessing the residue is from the solder melting; but what would cause a controller to fail like this? It was under light use, I should mention it's a Lyen mark II so it's more than capable of a few amps of regen..
