Wiring up my first build today and one of the hall sensor wires pulled out on the 5 pin JST housing.

I pulled out the pin but I'm not sure I can reuse it. And I figured if I need to get another pin. I've found what I need on ebay-- http://tinyurl.com/mpntfmx

But it would be nice not to have to wait two weeks for those to arrive from China.

I figure a place like newark.com probably has these domestically but I must not know how to search precisely enough. I just keep coming up with Molex connectors there and when I search for JST-SM I get thousands of results.

try putting 5s in your search (5 series).

Another option is to check out radio shack or a local electronics store and buy a male and female 5 pin connector... then cut off the old one and redo the whole thing. Use shrink wrap for each of your solder connections.

Chances are you just need to tweak the retaining tab of the connector and re insert it. Connectors pushing back from the housing is the #1 reason a new kit won't run.

Again with the temporary patch, you could bridge the connector with a small splice of wire to get going this weekend.

I did a quick search on JST's website and found the part number for the housing is SMP-05V-BC or NC depending on which end of the connector you need.I then found the part # for the pin contact is SYM-001T-P0.6 and for the socket contact is SHF-001T-0.8BS Here is a link to the data sheet that included all this info. http://www.jst.com/home23.html Digi-Key has the pins here http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?WT.z_supplier_id=455&WT.z_page_type=SP&WT.z_page_sub_type=SS&WT.z_oss_type=Keyword&v=455&lang=en&site=us&KeyWords=SYM-001T-P0.6&x=10&y=5 and the sockets here http://www.digikey.com/product-search/en?WT.z_header=search_go&lang=en&site=us&keywords=SHF-001T-0.8BS&x=9&y=16
It does not seem like Digi-Key Caries the housing, but I gave you the part #'s above so you may be able to search them out online. Sorry you will need to copy these links and paste them in your browser because I was using my cell phone to do this.

Good Luck and let us know if you find a US supplier for the housings.

You can get them here pretty cheaply and quickly. They're in California.
