I'm curious how standing on the board makes any difference. It works whether I'm on the deck or not. It seems like it's a reception issue, but if you know something that I missed, I'm all ears.

On my comersial board it's works like this, I can stand next to it and nothing happen when I press the remote, then I touch the board with my foot and it works. I'm not fully understand how it works thou. Also, if I'm not holding the remote at the conducting tape, it will also not work.

But in your case there's probably some issue. Try a new battery if you have not done it yet.

I built a fractal antenna and it works like a charm at 8 feet

I tried 12s and fried the controller. I know better now. You might try 36v(9s) or even 8s would be smarter. That will give you some more speed/power and hopefully not kill your controller.

My kids love to ride with me too. Awesome.
