FOC controller compatibility

Hi there! I am ordering a 1000w kit from aliexpress with KTcontroller 40A and the KT Display:LCD8, PAS, Brake sensor, twist throttle. I`d like to know if there are any advanced controllers with FOC technology that are compatible with my display and the other stuff. It would be cool to have the field weakening tech for higher top speed without higher voltage battery. Thanks!

Do not make display compatibility a priority, small beer peripheral issue. IMO variable regen more important.

FW is a separate issue from FOC itself.

Grin Tech' PhaseRunner if that's strong enough for you

Nucular seems best for bigger, but 5-8? month waitlist, so have your backup in place first for R&D get you started.

ASI BAC if you fin a good reliable supplier to help with programming/ tweaking.

Sevcon excellent but that last issue is a deal-breaker.

Some Kelly's some sabvotons from QS

DIY stuff, lebowski, sfoc5

lebowski threads

google this quote:
"possibly the vesc threads if any of them measure phase current directly, and maybe the sfoc thread by incememed. possibly in some of the other controller development / design threads too"

Thanks! To be more precise:
I ordered this kit: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000836440793.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4bf14c4dwjEl3s

Regen is not possible because the motor is geared. I don`t need regen, I just need more top speed in order to keep up with the cars in the city. The kit offers loads of torque but I would like to hit 60 kph+ also.
I saw a russian guy who tunned it with DC to DC booster in order to raise the voltage, I don`t know about that, it is a cheap to do it tough.
Raising the amps is not a good idea, the motor wire won`t hold more than 45 A.
The 40A kt controlller won`t support more than 52v, which is the voltage of my battery.
But I`ll see what`s the top speed when I`ll test it and see if I`m okay with it.

Raising the voltage or applying field/flux weakening will get you more speed. FOC will provide greater efficiency. Amps will only give you more speed, if wind resistance is limiting an otherwise faster speed, and more power is required to overcome that resistance (usually over around 20 mph).

That flux weakening I wanted to refer to, sorry! I think 2200 watts with reduction gears will be more than enough power, but that power will die away after like 400 RPMs or so because lack of voltage.

What do you think about this Risunmotor, rebranded sabvoton? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33004682513.html
It seems it has flux weakening in the setting, do you think it will properly work?

I bought one of those last year. The 5v supply was dead, so I returned it; otherwise looked promising.

Does the Ali seller have to pickup return shipping? How much is that back to China?

There is open source firmware here on E-S for the KT controller you already (will) have with the kit:https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=87870

I'm not sure how sophisticated the latest firmware is these days so no idea about all the possibilities that are included. But maybe a nice way to "upgrade" your existing controller first.

I got mine off of eBay, and spent ~$10 more than AliExpress at the time. I think eBay and PayPal offer a few other layers of protection, and reviews actually matter. They have them with or without display, with a bluetooth option. Return went smoothly.

Example:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/eBike-Electric-Bicycle-36V-72V-45A-1000W-2000W-Sine-Wave-Controller-Color-LCD/174418414225?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20200520130048%26meid%3D038b20e6f6d24a2aa9f15410a3b0b112%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dpf%26sd%3D233561023615%26itm%3D174418414225%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2047675%26algv%3DSimplAMLv5PairwiseWebWithDarwoV3BBEV2b&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851

I noticed that this controller is pretty weak on the phase amp rating with 45A battery, and 70A phase. If you compare to Grin's 40A controller, with a 120A phase current limit or their 35A controller with 90A phase, and their 25A has 75A phase, it's pretty clear you need to look at both ratings.

Oh, so much stuff I have to take into account. Now I need to learn about the phase amps haha.

Cool! Thank you! Maybe that will make me happy, if not, I'll invest in a more sophisticated controller.
