in 2023, what are the great battery options out there?

I would like to know what are the good options for battery packs as of today. This forum is a goldmine of information, but a lot of it is outdated... or is it?

What are good battery options for building a high density high current battery pack today? What stores are reputable and don't lie about battery specs? What brands should I be looking at? a123? Molicel? Sanyo? Panasonic? Recycled EV batteries? Which models?
