Magician 250 electric drive conversion

Here are a few pics of my Magician 250 conversion! I started the build in June, its about 90% complete now.

In another thread someone was distainful of the Magician I'd suggested for a conversion as "Substandard." What sort of comments do you have on your original donor, mainly suspension/brakes?

Also, wondering if you intend to ride offroad with the hub motor. The vulnerablity to mud, etc., makes a topic of discussion.

Its an open source design-75% size copy of a 1980's yamaha.

Different factories will offer different quality ranging from absolute garbage to acceptable.

+The bike is easy to work on and once converted weights only 100kg
-Rims are steel
-The original front brake didnt brake at all
+The rear brake is fine and was easy to fit with the hub motor
=The Front suspension is not good, but not terrible either.
-Rear suspension isnt good but acceptable with the 205. I will need to upgrade it to fit a heavier 273 motor. Help or advise about it is welcome, need adjustable damping, 330mm shock.

Fitting the battery required subframe modification.



If quality bikes are available in your area, I would suggest you pick a used bike with a blown engine rather than a brand new magician or any Chinese bike.

I chose the magician because there are no Japanese imports in China, because its cheap and I like the way it looks.
