Anybody tried a Papamotor kit yet. It looks not bad with a Ping battery. Can someone say what that motor is?

They are using 9c motor from http://www.e-bikekit.com/ and the battery looks not an Pingbattery battery pack

Sorry, beg to differ.
I bought a Ping 48V 15AH LiFePO4 last year and with a careful bit of positioning to hide the BMS it looks exactly like that.
The charger supplied with the kit is also exactly the same.

To masquerade as a Ping battery all you need is the same colour heatshrink and a female xlr connector for the charge lead.
Performance is another matter.

with a $234 'fixed shipping cost' I won't be buying any one-offs soon

@ElectricEd - Whoops, I looked wrong picture. YEAH YEAH I see the battery pack is an ping battery.

Anyways, The hub motor is almost same as http://www.e-bikekit.com/ using 9c hub motor.

Err,
Exactly Which reputable vendors are selling a $500 kit that includes a 48v 15ahr lifepo4 ping battery (or equivalent)?

i paid >$600 for my ping battery alone.

A place that I can steer some one to for a kit that is $1,000 all in with a good plug and play lithium battery and good battery support?

Something to be said for that. Time will tell on the service side.

They've even got the advert pop-ups on the news site i frequent worked out like H-K does.

My first eBike build was based on the Papamotor 48V, 15 aHr Ping battery kit. Papamotor supplies all necessary components, including TWO throttles and torque arms, with their premium kits. Sure, I had an issue or two but no one in this industry has better customer service. All emails were answered next day. Issues were taken care of promptly. I've had other "reputable" vendors that ignore my initial emails and are slow to ship. If you are NEW to eBikes, you cannot go wrong with Papamotor. Best deal is a platinum package which includes FREE shipping. No slow boat here. Get the kit in two weeks followed by the Ping battery pack in a few days. When you compare cost, include shipping and the value of great customer service, Papamotor is a worthy choice. For starters, see what Ping charges for the same Battery pack with shipping.......

Cyclebutt, Thanks for the info. Can you updates us with some pictures of what your motor looks like? It should be similar to the 9c Direct drive right?

Hey Racer_X. Haven't figured how to reduce photo file size to EP requirements with W7 but you can find my build information on "Cyclebutt," the public site, on FaceBook.

P1010184.jpgView attachment 1P1010191.jpgHere are some photos that PapaMotor sent me of their 48volt, 1000watt DD rear hub. This hub has hit 35mph using their supplied Ping battery pack. Also, my Ping pack delivered 16.5 aHr, not bad for a 15aHr pack. That was two years ago when it was new, haven't metered it lately.

BTW, this is the hub they had two years ago. I believe they have an upgraded model these days. Just last week I tested a new low cost 1000w, 48v, DD rear hub kit with my Vpower 20ahr pack and only hit 28mph top speed. Different bike and tires can make some difference but maybe not that much. Still have more testing to do with the new bike but PapaMotor DOES sell a quality product and has excellent customer service.
