Total newb here to hub motors but I am planning my next build with a Sabvoton 72150 with a QS 205 50H hub motor. I was wondering if it's possible to use this setup (temporarily) with a 48V 17.5Ah battery (Panasonic 29pf cells) + BMS rated for 30Amp continuous discharge?

I do understand that the Sabvoton is 48V compatible but would I be able to limit the 72150 to 30 Amps pull in settings and run a QS 205 50H? I'd like to run this setup with a battery I already own until I save up for a proper 72V 100+ Amp battery.

Thanks in advance

You can limit the sabvoton controller to the current you need, but I do not know how accurate the current is regulated.
Mine is set to 150A and overshoots up to 172A peak and 165A continous.

Thank You!

Upon further reading I discovered that setting the controller within 10-20% below the BMS limit is recommended. Based on your numbers this seems to be correct.
