A total of 874 riders have been arrested and nearly 18,000 motorbikes or electric bicycles were impounded since the crackdown started on March 21, Shenzhen traffic police said.

i like the chinese answer to being detained because of riding illegal vehicles: ride them outside police's business hours. :) a very pragmatic approach. they could as well make them LEGAL and avoid being detained that way?!? but that would take the thrill out of it.
