CAM05976.jpgNeed help from geniuses in this forum. While taking off, just after battery charging, (see photo, good voltage), my "e-Grom" electric motorcycle just stopped. Faint click noise when throttle applied. The speedometer shows 104~105 kph, while standing still. Lights work. No other symptoms. This electric "Grom" from China was covered by a motorcycle cover during rains. Humidity was 100% during three consecutive nights, recently. Contacts were treated with contact cleaner. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Faint click with throttle could mean you blew one or more MOSFETs in your motor controller. Unplug the motor and battery, then check the resistance between controller battery negative and each of the motor phases.

Diff-Lock, you are correct.

Three FETs were blown. Was told that the FETs in the controller were the 5 cent, no-name, from China. Replaced with similarly no-name, because the name-brand FETs was suppossedly $1-$5 each, with a minium qty in the hundreds.

These 3 FETs blew from a cold start, not from going uphill at speed.

I asked if the controller could be replaced with an Alltrax or a motorcycle-type, but was told that the box for the controller is very small.

My electric 'Grom' e-motorcycle is working again.

Less than 250 kms total on the odometer.

Bahamas Biker....where did you buy your E-Grom from? Please could you post up a link?

Cheers
