can I use "engine enamel" to coat the motor wires and stator? some of my copper wires have been ground somewhat and I want to seal them before they happen to short. It does not list any information in regards to dielectric strength etc.

Thanks

It should work fine.

Research before buying, many paints use metal oxide's for dying color. could be a problem if paint break's down.

Use clear engine enamel.

A excellent product would be Sprayon red insulating varnish. I sprayed my motor with this varnish, and drove all winter and there is no rust on any of the stator or magnets. It cost about 10.00 CDN/US. If you use this put on a THIN coat because if too thick the wheel will not rotate freely. as the clearence between the stator and magnets is very close.
