    LightningRods mid drive kit

I used a 100T chainring when I did my 1x9 conversion. It worked really well, but I do not like the weight in the back wheel anymore. In the meantime I have bought a mid-drive Qulbix and will be working on a change of the double chains. I tend to ride quite fast and I cannot pedal more than...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

I was looking at the Heidenau's as well. The 20 inch size stopped me: not too much choice of rims.

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

ok, got it sorted out now: the controller was cutting off at 52V (undercurrent). I have increased the battery size to 26S6P and now it works very well. The power is insane (150NM torque), which meant that I did an uncontrolled wheelie at around 20kmh. Still recovering from the bruises, but very...

1.60" or 1.85" wide rim for street?

I chose 1.85", so that I can use the Tubliss system. They have around 10% weight penalty. I love the cornering on the Conti KKS10 (2.5") The dual use Shinkos (2.75") were in my opinion horrible for cornering on the street.

2019 16" moped/scooter tire pop-off: which is the most puncture proof?

I also ride in a very puncture rich area. Here my current findings: going from bicycle to MC tires helped a bit, but not too much. The typical thing over here are nails, construction staples, screws and bolts. If you want to be 100% puncture proof, you could try mousse in MC tires. Rolling...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

My conversion has been taking longer than expected. First I fried a Cycle Analyst and bought a replacement. Then I decided to keep the dirt tire on the old wheel and built up a new wheel with new 5KW motor, including statoraid and hubsinks. The dropout needed to be increased to 150mm, hence I...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

Thank you for the feedback. I didn't like the rolling resistance on the 244s, but am happy with the Continental KKS 10. Low rolling resistance and much better cornering on the road. I buy the tubeless kits on Ebay. Just search for Tubliss. You need the full kit to start with for around 90 USD...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

here my findings: 1) reducing the pressure made things worse. On top of the bouncing it induced some wobbling as well. Reduced range with reduced pressure 2) the bead was sitting perfectly 3) I bought some wheel weights and needed to add almost 6 ounces ! (ca. 150grams) No more bouncing...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

Oh that explains a lot. I should have known before. It was hard to fit almost 4" when you think you are getting 3. I will check the bead once more, although I did already when mounting. That has been a common issue for as well. Thx

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

here an update on my conversion to 19": First of all the Excel Takasago 19" rims are way easier to true than the "porky" Chinese ones. I did a weight comparison as well: 26" MTB 1640 grams (with brake disk) 21" Motorcycle 5850 grams (no brake disk) 19" Moped 4650 grams (no brake disk) here a...

19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

So I installed a simple fairing yesterday and tested it today. My top speed, which had been hovering around 67kmh went up to 75.8 !!! All of that with a little piece of plastic...

    E-Bike Registration

Thank you for the explanation. I got my normal car registered in the Scottsdale DMV, so I know that location as well. The e-car which I am building has a base kit from the UK. They have already sold around 100 of them in the US (with gas engines). None of their equipment has got a DOT...
