    Ebike scooter project QS 4kw V3 72v, Kelly KEB72601

This is Shawn McCarty the developer of BatteryBlocs. I agree with your comments, that the PLA plastic can deform under heat. I first became aware of the issue when a customer in Arizona left a battery in the dash of his car and returned to deformed BatteryBlocs. In response, I switched to...

    JP spot welder

OK, I have it connected to the positive battery terminal- I'll change it tomorrow! I didn't read the circuit board silkscreening. Might be good to include a piece of paper showing the connections for guys like me..

    JP spot welder

My welder is always live- the copper welding tips always have 12 volts.- Does the circuitry connect to the positive pole of the battery or the negative? Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? thanks, Shawn

Charging a 36 volt Ping battery directly from photovoltaics.

Yes, I have measured the voltage at the charger. But in a personal email with Mr Ping he recommended that I limit the voltage to 42 to avoid overcharging. I did find this Mppt charge controller...

Charging a 36 volt Ping battery directly from photovoltaics.

Hmm, interesting. It would take 200 solar cells as each one puts out .5 volt. That's a lot! Thanks, but hopefully I can find a simpler solution. Shawn

Charging a 36 volt Ping battery directly from photovoltaics.

I was thinking that if the photovoltaics put out 42 volts max, that as the Ping battery charged, the voltage would also increase, until no current could flow into the battery.. Wishful thinking? I did look for 36 volt charge controllers and fund this: PT 36-5A, 36V here...

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

What was the overall average moving speed for the 97 mile tested range? Hi Texas, I was going slow at 12 to 15 mph. I was also pedaling. I was trying to keep the burn below 200 watts/hr whenever possible. Just returned from a fast (18 to 21mph) 40 mile errand and into a strong headwind...

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

The newer Yubas have mounting holes for the front basket in the frame. They would be ideal for attaching a fairing. I would try goggles first! I enjoyed your website, keep riding. Now I'm thinking about doing an electric version of yours on my website. cheers, Shawn

Charging a 36 volt Ping battery directly from photovoltaics.

I use a 36 volt Ping battery to power my electric bicycle. The charging steps look like this: Photovoltaics to charge controller to battery to inverter to battery charger to battery management system to battery. A lot of steps, a lot of inefficiency. I'd like to experiment with simplifying...

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

Hi Dogman, I didn't want to use the back rack for the battery because I often have Lisa riding, and for kicks, sometimes a couple of adults or the neighborhood kids. I have never had any "slippage" with my front hub motor. It's only 500 watts, for heaven sakes.

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

My thinking exactly. Those panniers get filled often, and I use ALL of the room. For example, I just returned from picking up two 5 gallon propane tank refills. No, it is mounted to the frame, and that makes ALL the difference. If the basket swung with the wheel, I wouldn't have done this...

I just never tried them on! I have some on another bike. Ok, returned from measuring. The Planet Bike fenders are 2.25 inches wide, the Fat Franks measure 2.5 inches. If you hold the PB fenders up over the FF's, the outer edge of the FF's protrudes. They look good though, and since...

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

 You are right, I used to have a motorcycle with a heavy front fairing with large pockets to carry things, and it was of course frame mounted. Never connected the two. You might think it's a little lame to ride your girl friend around on a bicycle, but she says that she feels "pampered"...

    Home assembled electric Yuba Mundo

Hi Ohzee, The Fat Franks are perfect. No rubbing. I paid around $30 per tire, a good buy for Schwalbe's- my favorite tire manufacturer. They have the highest load capacity too. The front basket is Yuba's and is very well built. It seems expensive, but it is very solid. You could probably...

Hi Chalo, I agree. I built the gear hub into a Sunrim "Big Mammoth", which is very strong. I am not stressing the wheel beyond it's limits, but the inner workings of the hub. I rode a Rholoff hub over 6000 miles since October of last year in Europe and beyond, with no problems. But I did...
