great to see another Matt build! And with a 10 turn 3210 as well - I'll be following this very closely
as I have in mind to build an e-bike for my daughter.
AJ:
ah I confess I did apply the paint direct to metal - I used "Hammerite Metal Paint". Misread the direct to rusty metal for
direct to metal.. oh well lesson learnt :-)
Matt:
yes it does look pretty stable - it looked so much lighter without the paint! Still it will take either of the...
I'm still building my firstbuild - finished the motor mount and now onto the battery box and electrics.
Aiming to be testing it by May - given the price of fuel (in the UK I hear of £1.49 a litre of diesel in remote areas)
this no longer appears like a geeky hobby :-)
Here is a picture of the welded frame with wheel to give an idea of how it looks.
It now needs some paint and final motor mounting holes drilled on the top. But it is essentially complete.
I suspect they could be used as a supplement to the car. Certainly this is how I plan to use mine -
running errands on the 1/4 mile trip to the local shop - or the 5x2 mile journey to the local town
and maybe 12x2 mile to a further town. But it should mean that during the dry months May-Oct...
ok update - the bike rack has been welded - I just need to collect it from a friend.
A minor step forward - I've also ordered the tyres and inner tubes for the e-bike.
I'm hopeful that the bike rack will allow experimentation with the two possible MS drives I've bought.
some more updates of the bicycle rack. It is very near completion - just requiring the motor mount to be made. At that point it can finally go and be welded!
Here is a side view
fantastic work Matt - I'm very interested in obtaining 1-2 of these when you are ready. Can they be retrofitted to
existing MS drive reduction units - thinking of the 3210 10:1 and 3220 4:1 units?
