    Anybody Deleting/Keeping Flash?

I just have my Android phone right now which means someone else can handle it, I guess. The National Weather Service (in the USA) used Flash to display their radar images on their website. That was why I needed it. The new NWS radar graphics (not Flash) seem very poor by comparison...

    Slower than low

I rode a 250w commercially made ebike that left my knees aching. It's not the lack of power that was the problem but rather the lack of torque supplied to the wheel. Going slower with more forceful assist was what I could have used on my ride.

Motor Strength for Friction drive E-Bikes

I think you're onto something. I recall reading of friction drive builds with outrunner motors having extra supporting bearings added to the project because the standard skirt bearings in the motors aren't up to the task.

Thanks. The bungee cord keeps it off the wheel when I'm not using it. Left hand can push down the drive wheel and the right one pulls up on the throttle. Once it grips the tire it pulls itself in and stays as long as it's doing it's driving.

Thank you. The speed is pretty close to what I wanted, less than 5mph. That's less strain on the drill motor and more drive to the wheel that I need, and I like going slower these days. I'll see if I can do something about images.

    My situation explained

It turned out ok. I ended up going with the pivot approach as being easier. I made a mini rear platform at the end of the seat I slide back onto to keep the rear wheel on the ground for hard braking. Maybe it will also be able to give better stability by changing the weight distribution when...

HubMonster mid-drive (who says chains have to be noisy?)

The drive sprocket's teeth look shallow and pointy. That should allow the sprocket teeth to meet the chain more gradually (softly). The chain has to be tensioned more though. Those are some impressions I've picked up.

    new eZip motor

You're welcome. I also had a currie wheel that I hoped to try out. I don't think it's a bad way to do it. I thought about band drive with a narrow pulley, which is a little different from a belt. The part where the band goes in a narrow pulley looks like it could be functional. However, I...

    new eZip motor

I think you're looking for friction drive. I even saw one fella who took an electric scooter wheel and pressed it down onto his rear wheel, quite far back on his rear wheel, I think behind a rear rack, probably attached to the back of it. It was a few years ago when I think I saw a video of...

    Delta trikes vs tadpole trikes

My thought on it is if Simon were to get any of the types of tricycles that seat lower to the ground than uprights, either delta or tadpole, that should help prevent it from popping a wheelie during throttle-up. He said he likes thrills when riding, and being lower to the ground might feel more...

la Nina rears her ugly head

I consider the dewpoint a lot. I begin to feel more stickiness here when it goes over 65°F.

    My situation explained

The design is evolving whereas I was considering pivoting the motor assemblies into the wheel tire, not too different from the old EV Warrior way, but now it's looking more like the motor assemblies will be sliding into the tire on a track. That way looks to be able to get a better grip on...

    My situation explained

Dogman Dan, I've been leaning a lot toward the drill-based friction drive. It's not too bad if I spend a couple hundred dollars for everything to have something operational. A thing I like about it is the plug and play battery system. I think a lot about reliable battery systems and...

    My situation explained

MadRhino, A lot of those thoughts were like mine. I can do the drill idea, and if I don't like it I'll have a tool that I can use for other things. I kind of plan to have the drill be removable from the bike for when I don't have to ride on the big hill. I like the way the drive roller can...
