    BBS02 throttle is only on/off (not smooth/proportional)

I took the BBS02 for another test ride, this time on a really long and flat road. Turns out, the throttle is *not* binary, but the range where the throttle is proportional is really small. It's possible I have a lemon for a throttle, so I've ordered a couple alternatives. (I'm really hoping it's...

    BBS02B controller upgrade?

Yup - that's more or less my take on the situation too. If you're new to ebikes, BBS02 will probably seem wonderful (because *anything* compared to nothing is probably great). I want to upgrade the controller, but so far I've not found any compelling alternatives. For an alternative to be...

    BBS02B controller upgrade?

So if you buy a BBS02B your throttle is really just an on/off button, and apparently it's been this way for years. So is it possible to upgrade the controller to something that works correctly, without breaking the bank? These folks want $484, and they don't even mention the "B" version. This...

    BBS02 throttle is only on/off (not smooth/proportional)

Thanks. I'll read that thread. If this cannot be fixed, Bafang's BBS02 is flawed in a serious way (but not fatally). Makes me wonder: Hasn't anyone at Bafang ever used a good ebike with a proper proportional throttle? How could they even ship units with obviously broken firmware like this? The...

    BBS02 throttle is only on/off (not smooth/proportional)

I just installed a new BBS02B 750W 48V (850C display) into a hardtail mountain bike with 27.5 tires and a 8 speed cassette. I used this kit from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078YNVH9Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Overall, it works well. I've used hub motors for...

    Super reliable commuter.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've found the Aotema (formerly Wilderness Energy) front hub motors sold on ebay for almost nothing to be amazingly reliable: http://dallasebike.blogspot.com/2015/06/beater-e-bike-for-only-386-batteries.html If you are capable of replacing the sealed bearings...

Electric bicycles and weight loss/lifestyle change

In 2012-2013 I got very depressed and lost a bunch of weight. I basically was a ghost of my former self, and I could barely walk out the front door of my house without getting super tired. Part of my recovery was ebiking on the trails around Olympia, Washington. I would bicycle as far as I...

    CycleAnalyst direct plugin throttle latency

I bumped all three settings to 99.99 and now the throttle latency is much more tolerable. (Silly me, I didn't realize you could bump the settings this high.) The latency is still higher than my old Wilderness Energy setup, but it's not bad.

    CycleAnalyst direct plugin throttle latency

Also, all 3 throttle ramp settings are set to 7.99 volts/sec., which seems to be the limit.

    CycleAnalyst direct plugin throttle latency

I switched my main commuting bike from my old Wilderness Energy brushless controller to a CA-DP with a C3620-NC controller. I have the throttle directly wired to the Cycle Analyst (CA), and the CA controls the controller's throttle. Everything works great, except my throttle is now delayed by...

    Ebiking in Dallas

I've started a little blog about getting around Dallas and the surrounding suburbs on ebikes: http://dallasebike.blogspot.com/ I've ebiked thousands of miles through the DFW metroplex over the years, and I commute to work every day on an ebike. Sadly, I have yet to see a single ebike anywhere...

bearing replacement on a Wilderness Energy BL36 front motor

Thanks for all the suggestions. I removed and replaced the bearings and put the motor back together successfully. I used basic hand tools and this bearing removal set to get the bearings out: Wheel Bearing Remover Separator Extractor Puller Tool - Pit Posse...

Thanks dogman, I'll try that and report back what happens.

bearing replacement on a Wilderness Energy BL36 front motor

Hi all, I originally bought this front brushless hub motor kit (BL36 - 36V 20A) from Bernson EV (now defunct). I believe it was made by Wilderness Energy (also gone). I've put many thousands of miles on this amazing little hub motor, commuting to work or the train, with no problems until now...

    NiFE batteries from BeUtilityFree

I've been told by the importer (BeUtilityFree) that the recent earthquakes in China have slowed down the electrolyte shipments. I'm supposed to receive another shipment next week. The large voltage swing of these batteries (10-16V or so) has me concerned. My inverter shuts down if the voltage...
