I have an 96800 and haven't had this issue. Does the controller not work at all with the throttle plugged in? Does it show a voltage input value for the throttle?

Just had a few questions regarding the MotEnergy motors vs Zero Motorcycles motors. From what I've read, Zero's motors are very similar to a few of the MotEnergy ones. If I read correctly, Zero used to even use the ME1507 and ME1917 motors, somewhere around 2012 or earlier. Someone correct me...

What exactly was the question you had? Was it whether the motor would be enough, or the controller? If the motor was the question, ai belie e that motor should EASILY be able to power that buggy quite well, as long as it's geared right. IMO, gearing it low for the extra torque makes for alot...

Yea, I believe my battery is fine. I use the same battery on my other build with the mid drive. So I don't believe the battery to be an issue. It uses Tesla 21700 cells with 26 in series and 17 in parallel.

Ok thanks for the info! It sounds like judging by yours, that it is a fairly linear drop off down to around 3.1v, then anything under that it pretty poor and drops off fast.

Yea, I've had 3 controllers from them now and they are all frustratingly locked in different ways on completely different settings. There's like no pattern to what the lock, it makes no sense. It may very well be that it just doesn't feel as torquey because it is "geared" higher with the bug...

Makes sense. Weight in an electric surfboard is definitely super critical. So is it feasible that the ME1616 motor I linked could likely be pushed to much higher KW if cooled with cold river water like the MHZ, just that it's efficiency would drop?
