Good evening Gents. Yesterday i recieved my Duotts C29 from Geekbuying. Sadly it arrived with broken frontal fork partially as you can see at the photos ( forgive any mistakes, im new to the sport and i dont know the exact names for every part of the bikes ). I ve already contacted the manufacturer and it seems all this will ve a good end, but i want to ask if i can still ride bike while im waiting for the replacement part. Is this part compromises by any means the safety of the bike? Below its the google drive i created with photos and videos for the unboxing experience which end up to this sadly. Thanks in advance for your information.

Hello original poster, by now I expected someone else to scold you for your waste of our website's bandwidth. You obviously bought a broken bike but your photos and video are not good. Nobody here can respond when your photos and video do not capture the details. Also, NEVER USE GOOGLE DRIVE!

Hey dude, i don't like seeing newbs treated like this. Please be about 3x nicer!

On the other hand i agree that the pictures in google drive aren't useful and it's better to upload pictures directly.

I can't tell what's broken. can you upload a picture of where the break is?

Yep, take it to a bike shop for replacement. That was a dangerrously bad fork before, and now it's even worse.

The fork bridge is broken, it is not a good idea to ride like that, you will need to replace the forks. If you cannot get the original vendor to replace, then it should not be too expensive to buy a pair of budget forks.
sad, i thought the bridge was mostly for the front lights etc and not so for stability purposes.

Yes mostly for stability purposes, keeping the fork tubes from twisting out of plane, especially when braking with disc brakes. Also, many suspension forks have the spring in one side, and rebound damping in the other. The bridge ties the differing actions of both sides together. Otherwise, the fork tubes will act independently of each other, causing the front wheel to rock from side to side, instigating some exciting unwanted handling dynamics, possibly axle breakage.

Really thanks for the extend answer. I wanted to start using it cause its really helpful for me nowdays and now you forced me not do so. I guess even if i tighten very well every screw around there is still a danger to lose control?

what do you mean before?

A well built fork's bridge won't snap during any kind of normal use. That means it was laterally weak from the factory.. probably due to being built out of low grade materials.

Good thing it didn't fail in a catastrophic or dangerous way.

thats what im afraid off... im waiting for the replacement part to arrive, but if its from the same part number its gonna be faulty as well (correct me if im thinking badly). do you ve any advice on how to escalate this on paypal? i told already at the company that i ve these kind of fear, i asked for an extention of the warranty only at the main body of the ebike and they declined it. Of course they blamed logistics for the broken bridge.

Not sure how to deal with paypal, laws of how purchases are handled will also vary from country to country, good luck is all i can say!

That's an extremely poor response from the seller, but it is not a surprise from a prebuilt ebike seller.
Things like this are why people on this forum build their own ebikes!

do we ve any comprehensive guide for the controller and generally for other stuff like hydraulic brakes etc? i want to learn more of this, so if you ve anything for me to read please let me know.

We're working on building a knowledgebase system in the near future.

We have a lot of information on popular controllers and a lot of DIY builders can answer questions on them.

Right now, if you use the google search on this forum, you can easily turn up good results. Our forum has been around since 2006, so the chance that the question is already answered is very high.

You are currently in the Bike Mechanical and Structural subforum. If you move to either the Ebike General Discussion or Ebike Technical subforums, there are several sticky posts at the top of their pages with good learning material. I have a newbie FAQ with some info as well (in my signature below).

That's a display, not a controller. I believe the S869 is a newer version of the S866, so perhaps that manual may be helpful. Those models work with XLD BrainPower controllers, so that's possibly what you have for a controller.

I didn't force you to do anything. I presented some facts that you were lacking, in an effort to answer your question.
You can do whatever you want.

What screws are you talking about?
