TDCM Bottom Bracket Knocking a bit

i'll look into that. I had a wrench at my LBS look at it and he thought the bearings might be bad. That is a bit surprising considering the unit was new about 6 months ago. I will see if I can get new bearings and do the install myself. Thanks!!

TDCM Bottom Bracket Knocking a bit

Has anyone here heard of this issue with the TDCM torque sensing bottom bracket? It is a bit hard to describe but there is a clicking or knocking that is noticeable with each pedal stroke. I am no master mechanic, but I have worked on bikes a fair bit and I have double checked my BB install. It...

    Cycle Analyst: increasing proportional assist

Wow! Thanks for all the info. So I calibrated the TrqScale by hanging a 10lb weight from the crank and doing the math suggested in the manual (ended up changing it to 69.7Nm/V for what it's worth). I also upped the Assist Factor and now the wife is zinging along without breaking a sweat. Also...

    Cycle Analyst: increasing proportional assist

Hey All, I hope this is the right place to post this. I bought an eZee rear hub motor from GRIN and Justin has been phenomenally patient in helping me work through some unique obstacles posed by my particular bike. In any case I was hoping to give him a break and appeal to the ES community for...

How to power down my Bafang BBS02

For whatever reason (mostly aesthetic I suppose) I think I prefer these. How big of a deal is it that their max VDC is 48V? I am using a 48V battery so I am running right up against this limit (if not over a bit) especially fresh off the charger. Amperage seems fine at 60A.

That's a nice looking switch, where did you purchase it?

How to power down my Bafang BBS02

Well this seems to be great news. I have another system that I am building up with a Cycle Analyst v3 and I need the battery level on/off switch for that. So on this bike (which I ride very regularly) it sounds like only powering down the display only will result in just a minor level of lost...

How to power down my Bafang BBS02

Hey all, I'll try to make a long story short. The first battery I bought to use with my bafang mid-drive was a 11.6Ah 48v in a dolphin case with a physcical on/off button integrated into the case. I like this battery but I need it for another project. The battery I want to replace it with is a...

    Battery Placement Sun Atlas Cargo

[/url] Yeah I had actually considered this lower placement. There are in fact two braze ons there for mounting a bottle. My concerns were, first that the braze ons might fail if I say hit a pot hole or something like that. To combat this I was thinking of pipe clamps around the frame and...

    Battery Placement Sun Atlas Cargo

Great! That gives me some interesting new materials to check out. I found the 'Show us your battery housing' thread just after I posted this question. Looking through that thread gave me a few ideas but most of those where either rack top boxes or inside the triangle. Anyways, I appreciate the...

    Battery Placement Sun Atlas Cargo

Hey All, I have a tricky battery placement to make. The bike is a Sun Atlas Cargo. On my previous build I used a bottle mount battery. This bike (picture attached) does not have nearly enough space in the triangle for that. My kids will be sitting on the rack so that is out. I think I am...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

Well, I had a couple emails with the ebikes.ca folks. Sounds like the most people are going for a geared motor on a long tail/cargo bike in their experience. Looking at the motor simulator and comparing eZee geared vs. the Crystalite DD, the eZee is more efficient throughout it's range and...

    TDCM vs. Thun Torque Sensors

Hey All, I am trying to build a torque sensing system onto our family long tail. I am looking to use a rear hub motor (likely a Chrystalite) a half twist throttle and either the Thun or TDCM attached to a V3 Cycle Analyst. I searched around for information comparing these two. Looks like the...

    Power / Torque Sensor Roundup

What does this switch do? I see that it is offered with many PAS kits (for example, http://www.ebikes.ca/shop/conversion-kits/direct-drive/crystalyte-front-hs-kit-advanced-pas.html) Not sure what is gained. I also have heard that the TDCM BB sensor has some 'play to it'. Is this a widely...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

In fact I was hoping to build this as a torque sensing pedelec. I run my Bafang mid-drive without a throttle and like it a lot that way. For the wife though I was thinking of a Thun or TDCM torque sensing bottom bracket. Actually now that I think about it I will likely still install the stock...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

Thanks all, I really appreciate the help on this. So I am leaning now towards getting a big ass motor on the rear wheel. Here in Seattle wet pavement is a very real possibility and with a few yunguns on the back I really don't want my wife slipping all over the place. I tried to go check out...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

This is interesting, I have been leaning towards a geared hub motor specifically in order to tackle hills better. Maybe my thinking is off on this (it certainly wouldn't be the first time :? ). My thinking was that if she ended up going too slow up a hill the motor would gear down and not heat...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

Okay I am glad to hear agreement with my gut instinct that this was not enough. I built myself up a Bafang mid-drive system awhile back so hub motors really are not my specialty. But 300W sounded a bit small. It was simply the biggest one the local shop had on offer...

    Long Tail Geared Front Hub

Hey All, I am interested in converting my wife's longtail. She wants to drive the kids around on the bike in our immediate neighborhood. With her and the kids (2 and 5) we are likely talking about around 220 pounds on the bike. We have some hills around us but they are short and the steepest...

Battery Charger Sparking and not Working

Thanks for all the help. I tried a two things at once and something seems to have worked. I REALLY jammed the AC power into the charger unit (it didn't seem loose but it never hurts to try that I figure). I also plugged it into the wall first, got a green light, and then plugged it into the...

Battery Charger Sparking and not Working

yes, I have a voltmeter. I can check the fuse on the battery. But it still powers on so I think it is okay. Perhaps I just have a bad charger?

Battery Charger Sparking and not Working

Hey Folks, I am hoping someone here can help me out. I purchased a Bafang 750W conversion kit from emax ebikes in AU. Set it up last week and all seems to be going well excepting the charging. I have only done a few short 10 minute or less trips so haven't noticeably depleted the battery (14s3p...

    Battery case basics

Okay, I feel a bit sheepish about this but with about 5 minutes of tinkering I was able to figure out the mounting situation. The two keys lock it on to the frame. Included in the small bag with the keys was a fuse, perhaps a spare. I need a razor to pry open the fuse cover to check if one is...

    Battery case basics

I thought I had done my homework but when I received my frame pack from Emax Bikes out of Australia, I realized I had no idea how to do the basics like mount the case, connect to the charger etc. Before purchasing, I did look into how many Ah I needed and what cells I wanted but the real hands...
