    Lithium Batt House fire Melbourne

No reason? No specific reason, maybe... But that demographic fits my stereotype for your typical ebike builder.... Saw him briefly on the news tonight too - I didn't recognise him from any of the group-rides that I've been to...

    Full-throttle's 1st

Same as on the road, person behind gets done for failing to drive with due care; if they hit you from behind, then clearly they have not been leaving sufficient space to be able to safely stop, should you do so suddenly. So I say, if he hit you from behind, it's totally 100% his fault. And...

    Adrian's Bafang BPM Hardtail MTB

Amen. Wish BM would get some of them in, but I get the sense his shed its packed high with all the standard ones. I am still amazed that almost all the hubs except the CST take free wheels. Why is that? It seems that most newer bikes with the rear calipers in the rear triangle handle...

    Adrian's Bafang BPM Hardtail MTB

Nice Adrian, I hadn't realised you had built a new bike, until you PM'd me today. I run my BPM code 11(?) at 25A and it seems fine. It is interesting how many of us are ending up on the bafang geared motor, after trying other things. Ben seems to have a few of them tucked away at his place! I...

    Pushbutton throttle?

whoa! like, the harder you squeeze, the faster you go... novel. Seems dangerous!

    Pushbutton throttle?

Uhu. Seems easier than programming an ardurino.... I never did get the hang of C. Hey Adrian, did you get my PM re: buying one of your button switches with the Velcro retainer and all?

    Pushbutton throttle?

Ummm http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34612&hilit=+Push+Button+Throttle+#p503699 looks like what I'm after!

    Pushbutton throttle?

I am about to begin a 'bare bones' build - everything as simple as poss. Adrian_sm has done some nice 'pushbutton' throttles for his friction drive, so thought I might do something similar. I tend to be either full-on or off the throttle, so I think this would work for me. I am running one of...

I'm a noob and I wanna go sensible speeds reliably

Unfortunately, your idea to carry half the battery capacity and 'switch out' doesn't work; as dog man has pointed out, battery capacity (in Ah) doesn't just limit how far you can go, it also limits how much current you can put out at any one time. So if you want the torque at 'take off', you...

New build. Full carbon 29er weight weenie Super Commuter.

Thanks Kepler, appreciate your responses mate.... I got my BPM from BenMoore also, turns out he lives around the corner near my kids school. Easy. And $130 is a bargain, really. Of course all of this makes me think of more questions; sorry. Spokes? Customs? Where did you get yours from. I...

New build. Full carbon 29er weight weenie Super Commuter.

Love the bike Kepler, a couple of questions; What rating is the motor? (I assume it's 250 or 350W right?) but what power are you actually pumping through it? You are running it at 75V, 15A max, so around 1000w max? I have the 500W BPM motor, which is a little bigger, from memory - but I...

    Avanti Commuter - Update

Well, I've finally done a little swap-out for the C'lyte 3540 to a smaller BPM 36V500W 11T (see http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=46682). So now it looks like this; I ended up having to get a 180mm rear disk and caliper spacer to allow the caliper to miss the hub...

    Change C'lyte3540 to BPM

Aha! I just went around the block with it set to 80, and it was way too low; I was going to come in and write that it should have been 40 (which I guessed based on how fast it 'felt')! And you've gone and edited your post to 40! Well at least that explains it all! Thanks, as usual, FT! And...

    Avanti Commuter - Update

How's that for optimism 2 days into a broken humerous?!? 6 weeks! Heck, I had the brace on for 5 months - and I'm still not clear to ride after 6 *months*. I've got sufficient movement back now to be 'able' to ride - but my arm is still in such a state that a fall would be quite likely to...

    Change C'lyte3540 to BPM

Thanks for your quick response f-t! no room to move left, I don't think - it's right on the limit as it is.... unless I space out the axle as well, I guess - seems easier to go 180mm (but will look weird with it on the rear!) Oh. I reset this to 18 poles, which is how many it's got.... I...

    Change C'lyte3540 to BPM

Hi All, Finally took advantage of the holidays to swap out my C'lyte3540 (see http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=39940&hilit=avanti) for a BPM 11pole hubmotor. I guess I wanted something a bit lighter than the Crystalyte, less 'obvious', and I was only ever running it at...

Melb Australia Group ride Sat 10th Nov 2012

Having recently (6 July) used Newtonian laws and my poor skateboard skills to break my humerous, can I suggest some caution is warranted. I have now had my brace on for 4 months, and it looks likely to be 6 or more months until I am allowed to remove it. Haven't been able to ride the entire...

thanks for the invite Samd; I'd like to attend, but still not sure if I'll be able to ride again safely by then. Been PT to work and haven't driven the car or ridden the bike since I broke my arm on 6 July - while it's healing, it's a slow slow slow process. Might just have the brace off...
