    Hardware temperature control tsdz2

I'll be honest this ended up being more complicated than I originally planned, but what doesn't. From my original measurements and from some others I thought about 1.5-1.6mm would provide enough spacing to really clamp the plate in there which provides maximum thermal performance. Well I made...

    Novel gear reduction strategies

Ah I see, got confused by the video, at first glance it looks like the planet sprockets are eccentric but they are not. Not sure how much torque could be put through a printed version before the planets start going out of alignment from lack of 3D printed stiffness (also the failure mode of many...

    Novel gear reduction strategies

It seems at high speed the vibration could be quite bad in the config shown, maybe 4 chains/belts could be setup to be balanced. This reminds me of an idea I had the other day for how to make a 3D printed harmonic drive. Any real wear gear components 3D printed generally don't last well even if...

Why not heat my house w heat lamps?

There are much cheaper ways to heat an entire house but I have used localized heating in the past to good effect. If you are primarily in one place a heat lamp aimed directly at you can allow you to lower the temperature of the rest of the house quite a bit. More efficient though is warm...

TSDZ2 Full Suspension MTB build (motor cooling, chainline, etc)

So I'm going to try and summarize my current thoughts on the bike and how I use it in the hopes someone else will find it useful. I've always found that when researching a build, reading someone's experience that is as close to yours as possible can be really helpful. Someone building a commuter...

TSDZ2 Full Suspension MTB build (motor cooling, chainline, etc)

Haven't heard from anybody yet but I did ask if they would post their results in the TSDZ2 hardware temperature control thread, several of them were overseas and will take some time to get there. Hopefully we'll see some more results soon, maybe from people with warmer weather than I've got!

Mid Drive Off Road Only BBSHD or TSDZ2

I love hearing more people's experiences using these motors on technical terrain. I have a TSDZ2 and do mostly technical singletrack. I haven't tried a BBSHD and I am half your weight so take those into consideration. Throttle vs torque sensing: I have both on my bike and very rarely use the...

    Hardware temperature control tsdz2

That's about the measurements I got as well. The plate is slightly thicker though so it can get some clamping force between the motor and body, clamping force is the key to making any thermal compound work. Still we're only talking about tenths of a mm.

TSDZ2 Full Suspension MTB build (motor cooling, chainline, etc)

I pretty much have the current settings maxed out so I get about as much as you can from the 48V motor 52V battery combo. Peaks at about 750-800w but quickly tapers off as the RPM gets to reasonable levels. So around 500-600w continuous with aggressive shifting and 300-500w with more relaxed...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Figured you guys might find this useful. Building on najbyk's work I made some aluminum heatsink shims that replace the thermal pads between the motor endplate and gearbox housing. I actually made a crude test version a few months back and it performed well, I was never able to get the...

Building on najbyk's work I made some aluminum heatsink shims that replace the thermal pads between the motor endplate and gearbox housing. I actually made a crude test version a few months back and it performed well, I was never able to get the temperature above 42C (48V motor 52V battery, max...

TSDZ2 Full Suspension MTB build (motor cooling, chainline, etc)

This is just a quick build log of my TSDZ2 build, mostly focusing on things that others might find useful when doing a similar build. Started with a 2013 Diamondback Recoil Pro 29er that I got on craigslist. Quick list of all the basic parts, upgrades, tweaks and so on: Motor -TSDZ2 with...
