    Nukeproof Mega - GMAC - Nucular 12F trail/enduro build

Good call on going 12f. The Nuc is truly outstanding for what it can do and how easy it is to tune. Just be very very very patient waiting for it, it is worth it.

    Nukeproof Mega - GMAC - Nucular 12F trail/enduro build

Thanks BD :) I did consider going with a 6 fet Nuc, but didn't want to regret not getting a the 12f for its ability to dish out more phase amps. So the goal here is extracting as much torque out of the little MAC motor as possible for those extra steep rocky hills. The only way to achieve...

That's some bad luck there. Have others here broken theirs? So far mine is holding up fine, but a backup sounds like a good idea.

    Nukeproof Mega - GMAC - Nucular 12F trail/enduro build

Nah, 12f is a good match for the GMAC, it can push way more phase amps (well over 200a for the 12f) than the GMAC can cope with for any length of time. In fact Grin match the GMAC with the Phaserunner which only pushes 100a phase amps max.

    Nukeproof Mega - GMAC - Nucular 12F trail/enduro build

Five or so years ago I bought a run out special Nukeproof frame from ChainReactionCycles. At the time the appealing features of the Mega TR were the relatively large frame triangle for battery, removable dropouts that made for a easy conversion to steel plates for fitting a hub motor, all...

I found with my frame getting the battery holder and connector in place was a very tight fit with very little wriggle room. With the battery holder, make sure all your cables lie flat side by side, if the cables cross you won't be able to get the holder to sit flat and you run out of thread on...

Thanks Adam, I really like the shorter cranks on ebikes, the motor smoothes out the power pulses you'd normally get with a pedal bike at low cadences in slow technical going. I'm not seeing much of a downside to the 152mn cranks, it just feels slightly different with your feet turning in...

Pedal strikes have been an ongoing annoyance whether riding rocky technical hill climbs or pedalling through whooped out sections of trail. I first tried Miranda 160mm Q factor 4mm cranks, because they were the only listed as in stock on Miranda's store that fit my criteria. They were are big...

Hey Scrambler, beautiful CAD modelling on the Kindernay hub, but rationally, no matter how much you dislike derailleurs, you've got to consider that you would be adding a lot of unsprung weight compared to what is already a heavy-ish LMX hub and those Kindernay hub are some serious coin. If the...

Hi Scrambler, I think a custom built 14s7p designed to fit in the main battery compartment area would be ideal for the LMX. The battery cases add quite a lot of bulk, so there's definitely space in the frame to fit a larger battery. 1.2kwh should be easily achievable without compromising...

Glad the colours don't clash :) Figured when I built it I needed something to distinguish it from CDs bike. Also don't mind a bit of bling that the Fox Factory suspension gives it.

That would be the stator/rotor width Eddy. More copper and active material should mean less heat produced for the same torque. The downsides are weight, width and greater core losses from the extra width.

Worth checking the motor bearing anyway, there's always a chance some grit of dirt has got past the seals. If the crunch feel is coming through the pedals, it could well be bottom bracket bearings.

Whats the verdict: strongest crank freehweel?

note that the SBP FW is slightly thicker than a regular FW because of the extra bearing, so you may need to adjust your chainline to suit

Whats the verdict: strongest crank freehweel?

The UHD SBP/White freewheel is definitely the best I've used. It combines the best of the regular White freewheel but with a second bearing to provide lateral support to hold the side loading introduced by a motor running into it. All the single support bearing FWs, even the standard duty...

The wheel size can be accessed on the menu screen (push and hold the m button for 2 seconds I think), but you only have fixed choices 24, 26, 27.5, 28 and 29 from memory

12t 100t when running chain About 50kph chain or belt, measured by GPS app. I found I needed to drop the wheel size on the display all the way down to 24" to get it anywhere near accurate. When I ran the bike out of the box it was reading up to 60kph, which seemed optimistic, as it turned...

Hi Simon, Top speed is identical, power feels much the same (maybe a tiny bit more torque if anything) and my range is the same as before. Maybe the drop in top speed for the Nucular LMXs with belt drives was coincidentally the same time as a firmware update?

Hey CD, part of sucking the battery might be going 50 instead of 40ish  . the silixcon field weakening kicks in at about 35, but it's hard to quantify the efficiency hit PS - Spokes may be just settling in after retentioning. Just check by hand if they all feel tight or tap lightly...
