belt vs chain drive for E-MTB

Yes, it sounds like chain drive is the way to go for off-road use. I prefer belt drives, but I think it will limit my use. Thanks everybody for the help! I think I'm gonna use #25 chain and 6.3:1 ratio. I'll post some pics of my board when it's complete.

belt vs chain drive for E-MTB

So I'm building a dual drive E-MTB and I'm not sure if I use chain/sprokets or belt/pulley for drive. Here are some of the pros that I could think of each one: BELT: - Quieter - Smoother - Less prone to fall off - Less maintenance ? - Lighter ? - Less sensitive to misalignment CHAIN: -...

    E-MTB with dual 5065 motor???

My two sensored 5065 motors arrived last week. Didn't test it yet, but it looks really nice. I notice that it's much harder to turn it by hand than my other 5065 motor (from hobbyking). You can really feel the magnets when turning it, I don't know if it has stronger magnets or smaller airgap...

    E-MTB with dual 5065 motor???

Thanks for your reply. Yes, a MTB would draw much more power than a regular longboard. But my idea it to limit the motor current at 60A, so it would run at about 1300W on each motor. My concern is how to limit the current on those FVT ESCs and if a 5065 can handle 1300W of continuous.

    E-MTB with dual 5065 motor???

I'm thinking about making a E-MTB with: -2x 5065 270kV sensored motors (https://goo.gl/G0ZmFk) -2x FVT 80A 6S sensored ESC (https://goo.gl/PSk2oW) -3x 6S 5000mAh LiPO for 22.2v 15Ah -Gearing for 25mph My idea is to run at about 1200W max on each motor, to avoid overheating. With the 80A...

24v controller cutting power at 25km/h

Hi everyone, A friend of mine has a 250W ebike that cuts power everytime it reaches 25km/h and when it gets to ~21km/h it accelerates again to 25km/h. It's kind of a speed limit and to save battery I think. This ebike doesn't have throttle, it's just PAS controlled. He sent me its controller...

Kollmorgen 24v 400w brushless for skateboard?

I'm using two kollmorgen 400W on my E-Mountainboard. I'm running on a 52.8v 12Ah LiFePO4 pack and using two 12fet leyn controllers. The great thing about these motors is the price, I paid about 20 usd on each as I bought it stated as deffective, but as most of the times, only the internal...

    em3ev cellman 24fet controller defect

Hello everyone, last year I bought a 24fet 4115 controller from em3ev.com. I received it, installed and then tested. It had so much power that was hard to maintain the front wheel on the ground! The next day I was riding and sudenly it stoped. When I got home I opened and saw that the r115 power...

    Headway, buying batteries.

I have bought directly from Headway (http://portuguese.alibaba.com/supplier_headway-cn_50080629) three times. First I bought 24x 38140 cells, a 24S bms and charger. No problem. Then two cells smoked (shorted on the balance cables, my fault), so I bought 3 more cells. The last time I bought 41...

I prefer lipo only because it's cheaper

I think you're all forgetting about headways. you can get them at 1.3usd per Ah from the factory. So for a 12S1P of 38120's you get 39,6 10Ah nominal and able to 10C discharges and 5c charges rates witch is good for most people. Just to compare: 12S1P of 38120's : 39,6v 10Ah - 396Wh - 3.96Kg...

Jeremy, On my controller the R01a and the R01b are connected to the Vin of the LM317T and the R01a, R01b and R6 are connected to the Vout. So I have to short the ignition wire to the Vin and let the resistors connected to the Vout, like this ? Pedro Henrique

    Electric Mountainboard Project - 72V 45A controller with 7S

Jeremy, I tested the setup adding a RC 2S LiPO and it worked ok with 30-32v. So I'll need to change the power resistor to a lower resistance ones, but I don't know the value of the resistors for the controller work with 7S LiFe. I measured the resistors: R1a - 322 ohms (330ohms) R1b - 322 ohms...

I was thinking to mod an ecrazyman 24v 250W controller (http://tinyurl.com/yfl5q9x) with 6 IRFB4110 fets. Do you think it will handle a Turnigy 63-74? When you say to test the hall...
