    Panasonic pedelec

This sounded like a solid performer on the 2000-2006 Giant LaFree before Giant changed their ebike offering to Suede/twist/lite. Now, the new version is available on some European e-bikes, most notably Kalkoff. Also saw a blurb a new regen system which would extend range by a multiplier of...

    The catch-22 of ebikes...

If it weren't for going uphill, I would have no need for electrical assist. The achilles heel of e-bikes seems to be going uphill. Why would you even bother to make a conversion kit or e-bike that can't climb. I don't get it.

    Dual setup-Bafang/Cute

I've tenatively settled on buying a Bafang 500 watt BPM for the rear with Cute Q-F-128 SX up front (either 350 or 500). I'd love to hear your thoughts on this combination and also how to best finish out the conversion. Thanks.

    Bafang climber-bpm series

I can't seem to find much info on this motor, but it seems like a good candidate for the rear wheel on dual drive. Light,quiet,sensorless,inexpensive...what's not to like about this motor ?

    Rim quality on hub kits

Digging around as usual, and ran across one of the few negative comments I've seen on the 9C front hub motor... poor rim quality. Is that a common probem with the less expensive kits ?

    Regen x 2

I sense that regen is generally regarded as being on the short end of the benefit/cost analysis, but I wonder if that would still be the case in a dual drive set-up ? Also wondering if terrain factors into the equation.

    Dual drive for monster climbs

I'm leaning towards using 2 hub motors to tackle a 50 mile roundtrip mountain commute which features 3,000 feet of climbing going to work and 2,000 feet on the return. I suspect that two smaller hub motors will work better than one big one, but I'm not sure on the optimal choice...

    Motobob & other e-trailers

Hi I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who has used a Bob trailer with a conversion kit powering the trailer wheel. The motobob was made for awhile but is out of production. I'm especially interested in how one of these would handle hilly terrain. Thanks.

Modifying a new ebike into a climber

If you were planning on buying a new ebike and then modifying it to climb long hills, what would you buy ? Total budget for bike and mods=2,000.

    1st post-1st ebike

As a matter of introduction, I'm a 54 yo, 200+lb,avid cyclist looking to delve into the ebike/adventure commuting world. I'm looking for a kit to make a 50mile roundtrip commute in the Blue Ridge mountains on a late 80's stumpjumper. I'll be able to recharge at 25 miles. The route has 5 long...
