US Senate panel passes electric bike credit

That is what it looks like, similar to what has been done with E-cars. Of course, it is an election year, so we should probably not get too excited. Craig Taber Optibike

US Senate panel passes electric bike credit

I never thought I would live to see the day: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120802/BIZ/208020497/1361/Senate-committee-approves-tax-credit-for-EV-bikes--motorcycles Wow. This could be just the boost the US market needs. Craig Taber Optibike

Optibike's "twist" on 2012 Pikes Peak ride

Blatent lies? Hardly. 128v vs 124.5v : My memory of our conversation was off by 3.5v. My apologies. I was not exactly taking notes. My 3000w calculation was based on my erroneous voltage and the current draw I was told. Again, my bad. 4000+w (4x power) was a direct reference to the FFR...

2012 Pikes Peak, 3rd Place, my experience

Adam- Nice work! Congrats on your win. It was nice to chat with you at the top, I hope you enjoyed your ride down. Did you get a chance to check out Bishop Castle while you were in CO? I hope to see you again next year! Craig Taber Optibike

    Optibike bicycle battery replacement

Your batteries are different. The packs Optibike offers have much higher capacity than the ones you advertise, and they are not in a case that will fit inside the frame. Craig Taber

    Pikes Peak Race--Entering?

The Pikes Peak ride is officially on. E-bikes start at 6am. (yikes!) Hopefully, with the shorter course, more folks will come out to ride. I remember after the event last year that lots of people here were excited to come and ride this year....and here we are- the time has come. In terms...

    Belt drive electric Nuvinci bike.

Wow. 288wh battery and range "up to 145 km" With that formula, the Optibike would have range "up to 484 km" Maybe all of us should take some lessons from their engineers....or at least their marketing people. :/ Craig Taber

Optibike 1100R testride event in San Francisco

My intention was not to come across as spam- I am just going to be in the area, and like I have in the past- put it out there to meet up. I hope to see some of you, and your rides. Best, Craig Taber

Optibike 1100R testride event in San Francisco

Hello folks. I am excited to announce that I will be in the Bay Area from February 16-20th with a new Limited Edition Optibike 1100R. In the area? (Chessmonster??) Lets meet up! On Thursday, February 16, from 5-6:30 pm I will be eating one of the best cheeseburgers in SF and talking about...

    Pikes Peak, Electric Mountain Climbers...

If it makes you feel any better, the 7th place Optibike was a stock 850R, with ~750w at the wheel (the federal law does not stipulate where the power is measured as far as I know) Aside from the "boost" mode that gives the rider more power on acceleration (a few seconds only), the 850R is...

    Pikes Peak, Electric Mountain Climbers...

I agree with you- as soon as I descended and found out what had happened, I immediately sought out Josh's partner to apologize on behalf of the team for the accident. I have known Josh since 2006, and certainly did not want any had feelings and the whole team felt horrible about what happened...

    Pikes Peak, Electric Mountain Climbers...

As far as I know, we did follow the rules...we showed up and made it to the top as best we could. Next year, we completely support "classes" of E-rides such as "DOT legal, offroad, etc, but as far as 2011 was concerned, there were no such rules to follow. If that makes us punks in your eyes...

Acid test - Mountain Climb- 3220 motor hv160

Thanks Chessmonster.. :) for me, the real challenge on Pikes Peak is the sheer size of it- ~8000 vertical foot is alot- and for the last 3000 ft or so, I was just sucking wind- the air is thin, and the route emerges onto a completely exposed ridge above tree line with howling wind. The...

Acid test - Mountain Climb- 3220 motor hv160

Chessmonster, I hope we don't have to spend the next 12 months listening to what "would have beaten the Optibike" if you had only shown up to the starting line..... :) Seriously though, We would love to see more E-bikes there next year- as supporting this type of event is critical to...

    Pikes Peak Race--Entering?

wow. Thanks for that. Now I feel like a real badass, and not just another desk jockey who builds electric bikes. Did you know that: like every president of the United States, every e-bike company was also started by Free Masons? E-World-Order. Next year the event will be called "Submission...

    Optibike mid drive

Wow, I didn't know you cared so much about me either! I feel all warm and fuzzy, and I bet you look real cute when you get all excited proving me wrong. Good luck being right all the time, I am going to go back to building bikes. See you on the mountain. Craig

Ha! Yes, "beliefs" like your "belief" that I regard this board as a bunch of "kooks." I think this board is awesome, and I read it regularly, as I have said before. I don't respond as much as some, hell, I don't even respond in the Optibike forum as much as I should- its just the way it is, I...

Who are you calling corney chump? I am in San Francisco every month, as my Burningman Camp throws the best parties in the city (in my humble opinion.) I can tolerate you spouting off about my bikes, but I would appreciate it if you would keep the name calling to the kids in third grade...
