    I was planning to use my 407 @ 48V . My main pack is 48v of nimh 2*24v 8ah d cell packs ,Its about 3 years old but still pumps out 8ah. For longer hauls I also have a 48v nicad pack. I was thinking about hanging the nimh on the back of the seat and have it rest on the frame , then cover the area...

    Geoff any idea if the front wheel hubs are standard bike hubs ? I would like to eventually upgrade the front rims to 20'' and the rear 24''.

    Thats how I learned to lace my own rims , simply didnt trust my local shop. Still havent open a hub though....

    Thx for the leg work geoff I appreciate it , I already have several hubs 407, 5303 and WE. The WE is a front hub so thats a no go, the 503 is already in a 20 but haven't used it in 2 years, weight and drag just sux. My only other option is the 407. "Volt, Why do you want to use a 26" wheel?"...

    Yep both hubs were run at 48v . 72v on a x5 is a really good recipe for death , why would you want to go that fast on a bike ? even an expensive dh bike would wear out fast at those speeds .     Last summer i installed two x4 each complete with there own battery and controller ( 2*48v) . The result was a heavy and unimpressive lug of an ebike . A single x5 in a 20'' would be a better option.
