    Hubzilla is being a brat

There's no direct plug-in but the install is pretty simple. The black and red whites go to the battery pack + and -. The white and blue are the current senor wires and need to be connected to an external shunt. I'll be buying this one: http://www.ebikes.ca/store/photos/Shunt0.5.jpg The yellow is...

    Hubzilla is being a brat

I got this one: http://kellycontroller.com/kbs72121l50a24-72v-mini-brushless-dc-controller-p-1175.html It seems to be perfect for hubzilla. 4000 continuous watts and 10,000 burst watts.

    Hubzilla is being a brat

I got it working! To thank endless sphere for putting up with me I'll contribute what color combo gave me a clean forward. Phase wires. Controller:Motor Blue:Yellow Yellow:Green Green:Blue Hall wires. Controller:Motor Yellow:Yellow Green:Blue Blue:Green

    Hubzilla is being a brat

    >Got new controller (Kelly Controller) >Wire it up >Try throttle >get error code: "Motor did not start. Check phase and hall wires" >Sad face >Me too lazy to try all 36 combinations >Turn to forum for help Which would be a better bet? Trying all 36 combinations or just replace the halls...

    Hubzilla is being a brat

Darn this is making me nervous. Someone even said that hubzilla's color coding matches the infineon controllers and that's the way I wired it and something tells me that it's not wired incorrectly.

    Hubzilla is being a brat

So can anyone confirm if this is a problem with the halls or just a wrong wiring combo? I will be ordering a Kelly controller and I really hope it's just a wrong color combo.

    Hubzilla is being a brat

It was drawing like 13 amps at 72 volts and it wasn't spinning very fast at all. Only like 20 mph unloaded

    Hubzilla is being a brat

I like your positive attitude :) And I made some torque arms already. Do these meet your approval? It's pretty thick steal and I have one on each dropout. I will sand the paint off the dropouts and JB cold weld them to the frame and put the bolts back in. I assume this will be sufficient?

    Hubzilla is being a brat

I'm a little confused now. So let's say the green phase and sensor wire from the motor go to the yellow phase and yellow sensor wire to the controller and I screwed it up and did green to green and yellow to yellow. Would that have caused the problem? I thought mixing up the phase wires just ran...

    Hubzilla is being a brat

Darn :( I guess I just assumed since infineon is a popular controller and the hubzilla used the same coloring it would work. But even if the coloring isn't the same, wouldn't the motor just run backwards? or are the hall sensor colors not that same as the phase colors. Is that what you're saying?

    Hubzilla is being a brat

    >Got hubzilla >bolt it to frame >solder wires to infineon controller >yellow to yellow, green to green, blue to blue >Test it out >11 amp no load current >motor making funny noises >Check to see if anything is rubbing against motor >motor and wheel spin freely >double check wiring >triple check...

Awesome work! They look very nice. Having one unit be able to have charge AND discharge protection would be ideal.

50 mph friction drive? Possible or just impractical

Thanks for the advice guys. I never use cheap tires on an e-bike. I always use the quality tires with kevlar and they hold up just fine at 40 mph. I have over 1,500 miles on them without a problem. And in terms of slippage, why don't people just limit the amps? I'm just looking for crazy...

50 mph friction drive? Possible or just impractical

What do you think? I'm not talking about accelerating power. Just a friction drive that could sustain 50 mph. Think it's practical or am I wasting my time?

I need someone good with machining parts.

Yes! That's the thread I was talking about! I thought it was on a different website but I guess not. It seems like a pretty straight forward process to me. The only hard part would be modifying the cover to fit the new bearing

I need someone good with machining parts.

Yes I was just reading that thread :P But why not take it another step forward and also use a radiator to cool the oil that's inside of the hubbie!? Imagine how much power we can push through these motors with that type of cooling

I need someone good with machining parts.

I've been wanting to implement a PC water cooling system in my hub motor for quite a while now. There was a thread on another website where someone did this by taking out one of the stock bearings, making an aluminum spacer the same size and shape of the bearing, and then drilling two holes in...

    Where do I belong? :/

I really like bicycles and my occupation is a bicycle mechanic so I'm always going to be partial to bicycles. I always make sure my bike is perfectly tuned and tires have the right psi before I ride any of my bikes but honestly I think it's time for a zero motorcycle :P Yea it's cool and...

    Where do I belong? :/

Also with the sidewalk I've almost been hit countless times by drivers pulling out of parking lots and not checking the crosswalk for pedestrians of bicyclist. But honestly I don't blame them. Nobody is expecting a bicycle to be going that fast on a sidewalk. Which is why I think it's not fair...

    Where do I belong? :/

I live in Naples, Fl. (lots of old people lol) E-bikes can be no faster than 20mph without a drivers license. Which I have a drivers license so speed isn't legally an issue. Avoiding 45mph roads is impossible. LITERALLY almost every road is 45mph. Not many "shortcuts". A few parking lots here...

    Where do I belong? :/

I would take my car everywhere but e-bike saves a considerable about of gas and wear and tear on my car. Maybe I should start saving up for an e-motorcycle or electric car :/ but electric vehicles cost a small fortune at this point in time...

    Where do I belong? :/

I take my e-bike to work and back everyday. There are bike lanes going all the way from where I live to my workplace. (which is extremely convenient) However I would like to use e-bike to go other places but not every road has a bike lane. Most roads where I live actually DON'T have bike lanes...
