No drive from brushless motor, please help.

I am still fighting with this and keep hitting a brick wall I hope someone will help. I've checked and rechecked connections. Re-did the power supply wires from the battery to the controller. I managed to hook up a 30 amp meter and found the current spikes to 30 amps immediately when I crack...

    Does anyone know this motor?

Probably it is from Conhismotor. I have a used bike from them and it has the same unmarked components. They do have some specs on their website though. http://www.conhismotor.com/

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

Well, I still have some issues with this, hopefully someone can verify if I'm on the right track. I changed a bearing and built some spacers to clamp the inner races as they were free to move on the axles so hadn't tested it on the ground but it starts and runs in all positions in the air. I...

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

It didn't ground out on the steel it shorted to one wire in the phase windings. It is the middle hall and it shorted to one of the wires that exit the cloth shielding under the left hall. I lifted them and installed another piece of cloth insulation under the center and right hand hall wires...

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

I think I may have found the problem. I opened the motor up to have a look as everything else checked out. Looks really good inside, nothing burnt or broken, thankfully. I am assuming the continuity from the yellow hall wire to the phase wires was the issue. I lifted the signal wire away...

Ebike finally died, need help finding out why

I'm having a similar issue as Kyle201 and getting the same type of readings. I was wondering if they were polarity sensitive as mine read open one way and gave the variable readings described above the other. Could you tell us if a diode test is still done between Pos. wire and the phase wires...

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

Thanks for the ID. I think you're confusing me with kyle201. he is having a similar issue but I haven't done anything to mine. Not even sure what a shunt mod is.

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

Thanks, that tester looks like a good investment for the future but I'm hoping I won't have to wait another month to diagnose this. I'm okay with pulling the motor apart, I just wanted to make sure that is the problem first. I can certainly recheck connections though. Should the hall wires...

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

Looked again where you said and found a # on the motor, missed it before, thanks . it is HBS48V1000W1204120069. Still no name though.

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

It is a 48 volt system but there is no markings or data that I can find on anything. 48v1000 is written in pencil on top of controller case, that's it. No idea of make or model. I can check motor again though. I have battery voltage now at the controller when on ( 52.8 v).

No drive from brushless motor, please help.

Hey, please forgive me if I'm asking the same questions for the hundredth time but I 'm not finding what I need to know. I really need some help with diagnosis as I'm really not sure how to interpret my tests. The bike is a no name Chinese special with a direct drive motor and brushless...

    Help, internal pack short

Thanks for the replies. No warranty, as is. How would I go about bypassing the bms? I don't see any wires that connect the bms to the pack. Connector was that way when I opened it. Is it normal for the bms board to be hot after charging or not?

    Help, internal pack short

Hey guys, I could really use some advice. I tried charging and checking the cell voltages as suggested and they all were at 4.17-4.18v with the pack reading 54.2v . My big concern now is the bms is quite warm to the touch (metal case is cool). Is that normal after charging? I don't want to...

    Help, internal pack short

Okay, I opened the pack up tonight but didn't have time to try charging it while apart. I didn't see any obvious bad connections but there was a tear in the plastic at the bottom of the pack and the positive wire going down the side of the pack to the connector in the bottom plate is pinched...

    Help, internal pack short

Here is a pic. of the battery. There are no names on any of the components. I will try and take a pic. of the battery once I open it up to show what is inside. I will try to run the test you described once I figure out how to get it apart and identify the components inside. I'll post a pic...

    Help, internal pack short

I hope someone here can point me in the right direction with this. My son just bought a used ebike with a 48v 12ah lithium ion battery, but the battery has an internal problem. The pack has it's own switch and maybe a bms, I don't know. There is a battery level indicator anyway. Pack...

Re-volting the eZips ... Simple Mods!

Thanks again, I hadn't looked at the battery thread yet so I missed all your other threads. I have a DNP freewheel that was waiting for the right bike so I've mounted it up. The 30mph Is a long range goal anyway as right now my body is probably in worse shape than the bike. Looking forward...

Re-volting the eZips ... Simple Mods!

Thanks for the quick response and the links. I'll read through them. I thought I read in one of your posts that you were able to get some pedal assist up to 30 mph using 36 volts and the re-gearing mods, or did I read that wrong? How often do you grease the gearbox, or is it required?

Re-volting the eZips ... Simple Mods!

DrkAngel, thanks for all your research on these motors/bikes and testing on what they are capable of. I know they are low tech and kind of noisy, but they are also a cheap way to get into ebikes. It's good to hear that they can be built into a competent and reliable bike for not too much extra...

    Schwinn Izip, first ebike

Thanks. So, is there anything that needs to to be done for servicing to the Currie motor? Does the gear box need to be greased or anything?

    Schwinn Izip, first ebike

I have my first ebike, humble as it may be. I know that the quality is not great and I am not expecting any great performance, but it is a start so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with it. It doesn't look like it has had very much use. My question is, besides basic bike...

Canadian tire 2007 schwinn izip electric bike 250 or 450

I was just just given a Izip identical to the OP's bike in the first post. I assumed that the motor was brushed (2wires to motor) but the 35a controller says it is a brushless controller. Are they using a brushless controller with a brushed motor or is the motor really brushless?

Middrive, geared hubmotor or gng 450?

I have a similar question as the OP but regarding a small wheel bike. If I were to convert a 24" or 20" wheel bike for road use, does the same recommendations apply? Would the hubmotor still provide good speed on a smaller wheel, or would a gng kit be better to get some pedal assist at higher...

    Ping charger shutting down

Heard back from Ping and he is sending a new charger at no charge. Only catch with that is I have to pay to send the old one back. Still, I'm pretty pleased that there was no hesitation on his part about warranty.

    Ping charger shutting down

Thanks for the replies. I tried another cord tonight and it didn't make a difference. Yes it is under warranty, so I don't want to open it up until Ping says it's okay to do it, but a broken wire does make sense. He finally got back to me asking for voltage readings, so I'll see what he says.
