Comment, criticize my build. But be nice I’m new!

I was meaning more for the smaller pitch to allow you to optimize your gear reduction. 219 allows you high tooth counts in a small diameter. Its close in pitch to #25 but way stronger. If I remember correctly #35 is non bushing chain and not super durable. But if the bike works than keep...

Comment, criticize my build. But be nice I’m new!

Has anyone mentioned 219chain? The pitch is just under 8mm. Its made for high rpm and there are sprockets cheap and readily available in 90-100tooth sizes as well as small front sprockets like 9-13 teeth. This is a perfect application for 219. I like this build! Simple and it runs. So many of...

Tektro Hydraulic brake with switch $30

Tektro hydraulic front brake setup with the switch in the lever for ebikes. Part#HD-E350 It uses mineral oil not DOT fluid. It appears to be new but the end of the lever has some paint rubbed off so it was likely mounted on a bike at one point. I clamped it on a rotor to see if it held good...

350watt direct drive rear hub motor $20

This is a rear hub is from a Rad Power bike without rim. Here is a link to the original specs from Shengyi who manufactured it for RadPower. https://www.syimotor.com/products/dgw09nc-dgw09ns-rear-drive-motor-mtb.html It spins fine at no load. The unloaded speed is 24mph @49v Motor is in St...

    Free energy machine

Please direct your anger at the countless fraudsters and liars who have made free energy claims. Amberwolf is not being smug. The liars who have come before you have conditioned every one of us to have our defenses up at free energy claims. If you truly have something revolutionary then be mad...

    Razor RX200 6KW Build

Indeed. Apparently they build in a different amount of slop for different tooth counts. The pitch line is also outside of the pulley at a theoretical point in space. I wish it were as easy as a chain. With chain sprockets the chain always takes the shortest path between the 2 roller centerlines...

    Razor RX200 6KW Build

Agreed, they are expensive to machine. Apparently the dimensions are closely guarded secrets that Gates and other belt companies will license to manufacturers but not individuals. HTD and GT profiles are readily available at reasonable prices so its smart to do it the way you did. I have a...

    Razor RX200 6KW Build

Nice work. Looks like a very solid and reliable setup. I love how you say "only" geared for 44mph! I have the same scooter and it feels unstable at 14mph. Did you design/machine the pulley teeth yourself? I have been looking for some guidance lately on how to reverse engineer the tooth...

I want to get into tuning of ebike hub motors, what would be the ideal dyno setup to put some load on the motor that peaks at 100-200nm of torque?

Thanks. Here was my version. The 80100 RC outrunner is being loaded by a 9c hub motor doing regen. Made me feel a little better to send at least some of that power back to the battery. Its way easier to tune this way than to look at the display while riding. I have also thought about making a...

I want to get into tuning of ebike hub motors, what would be the ideal dyno setup to put some load on the motor that peaks at 100-200nm of torque?

I have used a 2nd motor with a regen capable controller to tune a motor under load. Idk how much you will want to spend on it or how precise it needs to be but its a quick and dirty dyno if you have lots of motors and controllers laying around. Most hub motors have a brake flange you can attach...

    Electro&Co EC4P

My theory of why so many motors have wavy washers is to prevent axial bearing loading due to thermal expansion. The expansion along a shaft can be significant compared to the diameter expansion we normally think about when assembling and press fitting stuff. I always just guessed they didnt...

Experiences with 36V tool battery as drive battery

Tool batteries could work ok but the chargers are bulky and some of them do require communication with the tool to allow them to discharge. have you considered using recovered scooter batteries. Seems easier to stick with something that is already setup for e-mobility. These are cheap...

Add this thumb throttle to sensorless hall controller

Thanks. I see a location Marked SW that is currently shorted to I02 which looks to come straight from VDD. I'm thinking that is a perfect location for a switch. I'll desolder and find out. Nothing like wasting hours on a virtually worthless controller to placate my curiosity while my real...

Add this thumb throttle to sensorless hall controller

I just ended up with one of these same controllers and I got it to work with a hall throttle. Throttle wiring is: 5v ref wire (red) to 5v port on the board Ground (black) to any ground location Signal wire to HV (green for me probably white for you) Also figured out that BK1 and or BK2...

Lishui push button throttle to hall

Got it figured out. Throttle is hooked to 5v and ground as usual and the green signal wire goes to the HV location on the board. Also, connecting the BK1 and or BK2 to ground will stop power to the motor. So this tiny controller just got a little more useful.

Lishui push button throttle to hall

It is from a Clean Republic ebike kit. Its a handy little kit with a sensorless front hub. Controller and Battery are in a bag that velcros to the frame. Since its 24v and 15amps max it rides fine without a variable throttle so they just included a small tactile switch with a velcro strap to...

Lishui push button throttle to hall

I have an old Lishui controller from the late 20teens. It has a pushbutton for a throttle. Its all or nothing. When pressed the NO button connects solder pad VL to ground. There is 5v on VL. Anybody know how to convert this to a normal ebike hall throttle? The Solder pads are labeled VP ZF VL...

    Machining/modifying motor laminations?

You guys have saved me from my addiction to extra work. I'm returning that scooter hub. As for motor mounting I really like keeping the complex bits in the triangle. I tend to bash the BB area pretty hard on obstacles. A rectangular battery box there is easier to protect/serve as a skid plate...

    Machining/modifying motor laminations?

For me the barriers to designing from scratch are lack of knowledge on the electrical side and cost of multiple iterations during development. I'm lucky to have access to a machine shop for hobby stuff but absolutely cannot and ethically would not develop products to sell using resources and...

    Machining/modifying motor laminations?

Good points. Im kinda realizing as I am asking about it that my energy is better spent in building a quality reduction setup. If it was simply machining the rim mount off this hub and bolting a sprocket to the disk flange It may be worth some power testing. But my imagined rebuild adds just as...

    Machining/modifying motor laminations?

Good idea looking at the field images. I was thinking similar to what you said about the laminations being conductive to each other as soon as an axle is pressed into them but motors are a bit mysterious to me so I was not sure. Looking at other scooter stators I think there probably isnt much...

    Machining/modifying motor laminations?

Trying to understand a little bit about rotor laminations and what if any effect modifications to a lamination stack would have on a motor. If someone wanted to change the diameter of a hub motor axle could the entire stack be machined in a lathe as if it was one big chunk? Is the shape of the...

The problem with that approach is that all the scammers and quacks have ruined it for you and everyone would ignore it thinking it was quackery. It would be like the difficulty an actual Nigerian Prince must have trying to conduct real business via email.😂

Gates CDX belt, any size, even broken

Thanks for those last links. That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. All the design manuals are about belt selection based on use case. The tooth profile stuff is the real secret recipe they keep under wraps. The belt sprockets on the cheap thread gave me some really good ideas...

Gates CDX belt, any size, even broken

Does anyone have a gates CDX belt they don't need? I need one to get measurements from. I'll take any length. Belt could also be damaged or cut. Maybe you bought the wrong size? Maybe you accidentally cut it with a razorblade opening the box. Maybe I can give you a few dollars and save it from...
