500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

I think that's it then. I'll get the Samsung battery and 10T Mac motor. It will be cheaper too as I will get it all from the same place. Thanks for all the help.

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

Yea that's the only thing I've noticed about the kit that may be a problem. I believe there is 15mm space between the hub and the inside of the disc, I'll have to measure my caliper today. Did you get a battery from him too?

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

I've been speaking to my parents and they don't like the idea of me going 30mph on a bike so that's that messed up. I think they would be okay with a maximum speed of 25. I would like to reach 25mph but still have quite a bit of torque. The 10T Mac motor will give me 25mph top speed but will...

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

The Samsung battery from Em3ev says discharge Current, recommended 35A or less. So will this one be okay with the 30A controller? It's a bit big but it would fit in my frame I think. Do you know of any 12v or 24v Samsung 14.35Ah batteries I could get to use in series to make it faster? (in...

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

I just had another thought. Em3ev say the 6fet 25A controller would be okay with the Mac motor but the 9fet 30A would be better. Would the 6fet 25A Controller work with the 15Ah Ping without damaging it? I'll be pedaling all the time too and I'll only be going 18-22mph most of the time.

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

Why would you not recommend the 48v 15Ah Ping with the Mac motor and 30A controller, would it be bad for the battery? I really like the Mac motor as it has high speed and torque but it will be expensive with the Triangle battery pack. Would the 50v 16.4Ah Rectangle Samsung pack work okay...

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

That's very good to know Dan, thanks. I chose the Ping batteries so I could buy 25V one from him in the future and use it in series to go even faster :D Do you think I'll need the upgraded BMS? Oh and I way 8.5 stone, that's around 120 pounds I think. Not sure how much my bike weighs.

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

Thanks. Em3ev recommend the 9fet 30A controller but say the 6fet 25A would be OK. I think I'll just try save enough money for the 15Ah battery and stick with the recommended controller. Do you have any idea what range and I would get with the Mac motor and 48V 15Ah battery? The top speed of...

500W Direct Drive vs Mac 500/1000w (Em3ev) + Other Questions

Hi. I thought I had decided on a 500w direct drive kit from Em3ev along with the 50V Samsung battery from them. But I started looking at the Mac motor and Ping batteries, which means I have a lot more questions. Firstly. How does the Mac motor compare to the Direct Drive one in terms of...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

I've changed my mind again lol. I think the 48V 10Ah Ping battery would be better. Then if I ever wanted to go faster I could add a 24V 10Ah Ping battery or even bigger Ping. The Samsung don't have smaller voltage with the same Ah so it would be harder to use them in series. This will be...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

Would I be able to add one of the 25V 20Ah Battery packs from Em3ev to get more speed? How would it work because one battery would be 12.3Ah and one would be 20Ah. If the 12.3Ah went flat while I was out riding would it just use the 25V one and go slower?

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

I have been reading on the Em3ev website and I think the 500w direct drive kit at 335 RPM is the best option. At 25mph it's not quite what I hoped for but it is definitely fast enough. I could always add another small battery to increase maximum speed right? So, just to clarify. 500w direct...

Is this a good hub motor kit choice? (50v Samsung battery)

Hi everyone. As the title says, I'm really just wanting to know if I am making the right choice with the eBike kit I am going to buy. I used the eBikes.ca simulator and that said I would get 15 miles range and a top speed of 28.7mph. My first question is, is the ebikes.ca simulator fairly...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

Thank you. I just realized I made a mistake in the motor specs. The 370rpm one is a front wheel. So I'll have to get the fastest rear wheel one which is 335rpm. Do you think I will still reach 27mph with this motor?

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

I didn't even see the triangle batteries before, one of those would be perfect on my bike. I think I have decided on a battery and motor. I used the ebikes.ca simulator and top speed was 28.7MPH with 15 mile range. I think I have selected the most appropriate controller for the battery I have...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

This is all very helpful. Thanks. Would on of the Samsung batteries from Em3ev be able to reach 27MPH with the 500w Direct Drive motor too? I was looking at this 50V 14.35AH one. It's small enough to fit on my bike and it isn't too expensive. If this battery is compatible, what type of...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

Hi, thanks for all the helpful replies once again. The first eBike we built had an Em3ev 500w motor and a 15Ah 36V LiFePo4 battery from Pingbatteries.com so I would be happy to get the motor from Em3ev. I now have a couple of questions which I hope you can help with. Firstly, what's the...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

Hi, thanks for all the replies. :) I'm in the UK, I will update my info now. The battery would be charged in my garage. I have read a lot of stories about batteries setting on fire and exploding, is that the Lipo ones? I think £1000 would be my absolute maximum. The range isn't too...

Cheapest 30+ MPH Hub Motor Build?

Hello, I want to buy a hub motor kit for my mountain bike which will allow me to go atl east 30MPH. I wouldn't need more than 15 miles range and the bike wouldn't really need a lot of torque as I will mainly be using it on normal roads and pedaling quite a lot. What would be the cheapest...

Can I upgrade my controller for more power & less range

Hi, I have a 500w Hub motor kit from em3ev, I got the motor with high torque and less speed, with this kit I got a 36v 15Ah LifePO4 battery from PingBatteries. The kit can do 30 miles on one charge but I never do more than 10-12 without charging it so I am wondering, can I get a new controller...

Threaded Freewheel supplier in the UK?

Hi, I've been reading some reviews online and a lot of people say Sun Race are bad quality parts. I can't find a lot of info about DNP. Have you had any experience with these parts or know if they are good quality or not? Thanks
