    Falco e-Motors

Thanks for the heads up. My Falco kit did not come with a manual or any information about how to use the kit. They have an installation guide available online at their website which also has information bout using the console but I don't recall it saying anything about this. I will avoid...

Project build thread. Diamond back overdrive EV

Even at 85-90 lbs that still isn't bad. I'm sure it helps being a lighter weight rider. I'm 210-215 with clothes, phone, wallet before I even get on the bike!

It felt really easy to pedal that ride yes. My purely subjective opinion during that ride was that it wasn't significantly different in pedal effort for the Falco equipped version and my previous no motor. Two days later I did a ride down to the beach and while on the actual beach path I...

Project build thread. Diamond back overdrive EV

Good looking bike. Looking forward to pics of the finished version. Saw earlier in the thread you talked about weight in the 65-70 lbs category. Have you done a final weight now that you have everything final/close to final? 70 lbs or less with all that battery power and gadgetry is impressive!

    Falco e-Motors

Thanks for running the test Bike_On. How did you determine your adjusted power numbers? I see you have a power number calculated and then are subtracting 4 to get adjusted? What is that? So if I understand this test in comparison to the graphs Justin posted on page 11 then the Falco has a...

California: AB2173 to classify a low-speed electric bicycle

Interesting and thanks for sharing. Will been watching to see how this turns out. The no motorized bicycle rule is why I wanted a totally silent motor. That plus good behavior like Dogman describes and I doubt that 75%+ of people will even realize I'm on an ebike.

Yes I programed the tire size. I did buy the offroad capable console. I also compared the speeds per the Falco console to my existing bicycle computer and they read the same. Thanks for looking out hcrider. I do have a torque arm installed as of earlier this evening. I purchased one Falco...

    Falco e-Motors

@ Imaleone Thanks. I'm pretty stoked to have it going. Yes I can maintain a steady cadence in any gear without the motor trying to overtake me. However, like you and others I'd prefer level 1 PAS provide a little less assistance so I can do more of the work. The torque sensor references...

    Falco e-Motors

Ok I've uploaded a free spin test video. PF7FHsSgEBo There are four sections to the video. All free spin tested done from approx 20 mph. 1) Stock Trek 7100 Hybrid = approx 53 seconds. 2) Falco wihtout battery tested twice = approx 6 and 7 seconds. 3) Falco with battery connected and on...

    Falco e-Motors

This thread is awesome. I bought a Falco 500w kit two weeks ago after lurking on here for more than 2 months and doing quite a bit of research. It was the info in this thread that helped me decide on a Falco. Though honestly I was sold on the zero resistance pedaling and didn't realize that...

    Falco e-Motors

ouch I see Falco raised prices on the off road console by $100 to $250. So you have to pay $200 to get an unlocked "open source" system ($50 speed limited console vs $250 off road). Is there any reason for such a price discrepancy for an off road console other than most people probably...

    Falco e-Motors

Dan / Bike_on, First of all thanks for all of the indepth and objective information you have shared about the Faclo kit you have. I saw earlier in this thread where you talked about needing quite a bit of pedal effort at higher speeds to keep up a high speed. I assume you are using the torque...

    Feedback/suggestions on ebike build

Well I went by an ebike shop today and test rode two Falco equipped bikes, bionix and motiv. I learned a few things. - I really like the pedal assist feature over using throttle. - Both Falco equipped bikes did not work properly when using the throttle. Both used a crank sensor based PAS and...

    Feedback/suggestions on ebike build

RC lipo certainly looks attractive once you have invested in the accessories. However, based on all the lipo advice out there I can't charge them at work. So I'm looking at a huge heavy lipo pack to make it 34 miles round trip w/ heavy assist right?

    Feedback/suggestions on ebike build

wesnewell. I take it that the quality of the motor isn't all that important if buying no name kits of ebay? Or you know those particular kits have good motors? Do you know if they are totally quiet? Based on my research last night I'm more convinced than ever of the need for a totally silent...

    Feedback/suggestions on ebike build

Thanks for the info guys. I did some further reading and aparently the "no motorized bicycles" is a California law on all bike paths unless expressly allowed by the local jurisdiction :/ Motorized bicycle is defined as: So it looks like under 406 (b) electric bikes are considered by CA to...

    Feedback/suggestions on ebike build

Warning: this is kind of long, sorry. I've been lurking on this board now for a few weeks trying to soak in all the great knowledge available here. I've learned a ton and wanted to get some feedback or suggestions on building an ebike to commute to work with. About me (the current bike...
