    izip my1018z motor question

Hi Drum, the motor looks new but I think it has been used. The ticking is continuous as you turn the output sprocket. Like turning the key in a clock. The noise is only heard counter clockwise which is opposite to how the motor runs when it was on a bike (I think)

    izip my1018z motor question

Hi, just picked up a izip motor from ebay. It runs ok when connected to a battery and controller. I noticed when I turn the motor cog by hand (not connected to a battery) it makes no noise clockwise but counter clockwise it sounds like I'm winding a clock. I've got a second spare motor and...

    Electric Izip trike

Thanks Gogo. Had to look up what you meant by design critique, but yes I am. I'm currently trying to get everything functioning and then refine the design. Motor drive is working great (which surprised me) but using the pedals is hard work so is not right. Seating position needs looking at...

    Electric Izip trike

My Izip trike PROTOTYPE - uses a unite MY1018J, 250 watt motor at 24 volts from an Izip CB26 also uses the controller and throttle. The drive sprocket on the wheel is an ACS southpaw 16 tooth. It has a 26 inch izip rear wheel and two 20 inch wheels from a BMX - I was going to use 26 inch...

    gng kit info

Nice article - thanks. I'd be happy running my bike at 36 volts - no higher. the motor I have with the gng kit is the 'unite MY1016Z3' ( 350W 24V, 9,47Nm) which is a different motor to those fitted to the izip's in the article. This motor is really quiet compared to the other mid drive bike...

    gng kit info

took a chance and fitted a 36 volt lipo battery to the bike (charged to 41volts) and it works no problem. The difference between 24volts and 36volts on this kit is at 24 volts it accelerates gently and tops out around 17 mph, with 36volts it accelerates like a demon and I got 19mph out of it...

    gng kit info

Hi, http://www.gngebike.com/new-24v-36v350w-mountain-mid I recently bought a gng mid drive kit (as per the link). I got it second hand, it is the 24volt 350watt motor version. I fitted it to a spare bike frame and ran it at 24 volts. Very quiet but I only got 17mph out of it at 24 volts...

    SLA charging questions

Hi, I’ve just bought 3 yuasa rec14-12 lead acid batteries as a stop gap measure until I can get li-ion. My SLA charger when charging has a red led which goes green when the battery is fully charged (so the charger reads). I’ve been told I should leave the charger running for 8 hours even if...

    Izip question

Thanks, you're right the controller is 36 volt capable. I put the controller on another bike which has another my1018Z motor fitted (as a mid drive system) - at 36 volts the bike gets 24.5 mph without pedaling and 27 mph pedaling - 7 speed bike. I'm not sure if the motor is the 450 watt...

    Currie izip transplant and overvolt

Thanks, just updated my profile, will complete it shortly. you're spot on, one of the batteries is new the other two are old. Range now gets me back from work and a little further, whereas before on two batteries it struggled. Top speed is 25mph on throttle, 27mph with me pedaling, before...

    Currie izip transplant and overvolt

I dismantled an old izip and transplanted the motor, controller, throttle and battery rack onto a Saracen Aluminium bike. The izip MY1018 motor (200 watt version) is fitted between the pedals in a mid drive setup. I’ve a freewheeling crank bought from Eclipse bikes 48T, 48T, 32T and a...

Hi, I've just bought two Izip CB26 bikes, ones a female one the other male. The motor is labeled MY1018JC-5 and another number 2200805030008 (Ithink). Question is this an MY1018Z 450watt motor or some other variant? The controller is a 25Amp controller. I have another izip controller...

    my 1016z3 sprocket

Hi, I bought the unite my1020z (450 watt version of your motor) from the same company as you. The motor sprocket on this was not compatible with a bike chain. I contacted the company and they don't sell sprockets which work with a bike chain for my motor. I solved the problem by filing...

    mid drive gearing

Hi, this is my ebike, it uses an izip motor taken from the wreck of an izip - I think the motor is a 250 watt one rather than the 450 watt (MY1018Z) as I'm in the UK, though I'm not sure how I can tell. I mounted it on a steel bracket I made. The rear cassette on the rear wheel is a standard...

Hi, -- izip side mounted motor question what way does an izip motor spin i.e. clockwise or counter clockwise? the reason I ask is cos I got an izip 24 volt motor, controller and wheel, second hand and thumb throttle. Anyway I installed every thing on an old bike and ran the motor fine...

    unite MY1020Z motor

Hi, I bought a unite MY1020Z motor (450 watt 24 volts) initially to power a home built mid drive bike based on the 'hutchtransfer' bike built by Eric Hutchinson. The motor has it's own reduction gears. Eric used a MY1018Z motor but I could only get hold of the MY1020Z. I thought both...
