Full suspension fat frame for bbshd?

Whoa. That thing looks like junk, and I think I bought a Kalosse hard tail bike before that we all joked was a piece of junk. I was expecting to pay more in the neighborhood of $800 - $1,000 for a good frame. But I understand that most fatty riders don't see the need for rear suspension.

Full suspension fat frame for bbshd?

Love my BBSHD powered eFat. I'm running a Ludi 1 controller but might soon transition to another controller for even more output. But I would really like to have a full suspension frame. Is there anything out there that will fit the BBSHD???

Stronger hub for 2k mid-drive fatty?

The SA RX-RK5 5-speed hub arrived day before yesterday. Looks like it was developed by the folks at Mack Trucks! Stout and heavy? I'm gonna have it laced into my rim and turn the power down to 75% on the controller (1500 watts) and hope the Cyclone doesn't destroy it. I promise never, ever...

Stronger hub for 2k mid-drive fatty?

Hey everybody, My Cyclone powered fatty finally destroyed the Shimano Nexxus 3-speed IGH hub. I ride the bike exclusively on the dunes and sand fields connecting the dunes here in coastal Oregon and never (well almost never?) shift under power. The Cyclone is rated at 3k but with 52 volts I'm...

    Quality e-bike throttle?

I've searched but haven't found one... Does anyone make a quality twist grip throttle with less 'dead space' before actuating motor? My cyclone powered gravity is nearly perfect for riding the dunes, sand fields, and single tracks connecting them here in coastal Oregon. With a big 52v battery...

NO PAS on Cyclone 3k Mid Drive then? :-(

Everything was custom fabbed. Six pieces for the motor, a custom battery mount made out of three pieces, and a the side plates and a whole bunch of 'rivnuts'. And the frame is the standard Gravity Deadeye 19" I believe.

NO PAS on Cyclone 3k Mid Drive then? :-(

Well I gotta say I couldn't be happier with the Cyclone 3k. Lotsa power. No failures. Motor doesn't get anything more than warm under the most vigorous riding. My biggest beef with the motor is it's kinda noisy. But my Cyclone is a Ferrari compared to the Bafangs that are more like a Fords or...

NO PAS on Cyclone 3k Mid Drive then? :-(

So my Cyclone powered fatty is pretty much the way I want it with one glaring exception. These things don't work well with a PAS? Is that right? I went with a 52-volt battery above the motor and controller in the triangle and have a 3-speed IGH in the back. But from what I've read here a true...

    bottom line?

Thanks!!!! Exactly what I needed to know. Had planned on doing a vw td conversion with the 1.6 motor (I already own two vw td's - a 1.9td in a van and a 1.9mtdi in an early jetta coupe) but was curious about going electric in the sami. I have recently built two electric fat tire bikes and got to...

    bottom line?

well I no longer have the back seat in the Samurai as well as squeezing a few in the engine compartment. seeing as the stock 1300cc engine only has 60hp and weighs about 2,000 lbs. so it wouldn't take a lot to motivate it. so what size electric motor would I need to duplicate the gas engine, and...

    bottom line?

I own an '87 Suzuki Samurai that recently blew the headgasket in the 1.3 liter gas motor (60hp). I'm probably going to do a motor swap to the VW 1.6td as those engines can still be found and the conversion is relatively straightforward. But I've also toyed with the idea of going electric. --So...

Tuning Bafang fat hub with KT LCD3

Hi all, Not sure if this is the right forum... I've just finished a simple build mating a Bafang 750 watt rear hub motor into a Mongoose Malus bike. Everything went together relatively easily and the Bafang gear reduction motor has lots of pull from dead stop all the way to top rpm. My question...

Buying e-bike with kaput hub motor - help!

So it's been five weeks... long story short, got the bike home. Rear hub motor junk. Water line inside hub! Lmfao. 48v 8.8ah battery solid, could run my fatty with it around town 3 miles. Beyond that? Gave some ebay seller $86 for an identical motor of unknown condition, laced it into the bikes...

wiring SNAFU (or short between the earlobes)?

So final note on this story... Finally got everything working fine. Built a custom wiring box with keyed power switch and hi/low switch. Sold the trike to an older guy who can no longer drive. He loves it. Riding a couple of times a day, everyday for the past three weeks!

Rear rack battery Tranzx Bl17 in something else?

So I got the bike for what I thought was a reasonable price. $100 for a 2015 Raleigh Venture iE that somebody had left out in a very wet environment for an extended period of time. The 48v 500watt Currie rear hub motor is toast, but the Tranzx Bl17 battery takes a charge and holds it for an...

Buying e-bike with kaput hub motor - help!

Well I pick it up tomorrow night. I'll let you know... I still think $150 is a fair price but I'll pass on everyone's criticisms and see if thr seller wants to go lower although I'd feel a little cheesy about that as i already agreed on $150 and gave him $50 down payment.

Buying e-bike with kaput hub motor - help!

That's good to know, but... Currie Electro Drive? 500 watt, gearless hub motor? 48v battery? How bad could it be if I can repair for $300?

wiring SNAFU (or short between the earlobes)?

So the whole issue was the wire labeled 'e-lock'. It needed to have power to it. As soon as I did everything worked fine. In fact the motor puts out sooooo much torque as to flex the mounts under almost any acceleration. So now I'll need to weld in some additional braces to keep that from...

Buying e-bike with kaput hub motor - help!

I told him I'd give him $150, which seemed fair. I'm picking it up in a couple of days. Looked completely unmolested from what I could tell. Like I said the PO said the battery was good but the motor was shot. So I'll see. Can these motors be replaced with something newer? What was (is ?) the...

wiring SNAFU (or short between the earlobes)?

So I'm electrifying this Sun EZ3 recumbent trike for an older gentleman who can no longer drive a car. I mounted an inexpensive (ebay sourced) 48v/750watt, brushless, gear reduction motor on the rear driving the rear driveshaft via a freewheel sprocket... I did roughly the same thing a few...

Buying e-bike with kaput hub motor - help!

Hey everybody, I'm buying a 2015 Raleigh Venture iE for cheap! The guy who is selling it to me says he knows nothing about it other than a p.o. told him the 48volt battery is in good shape but the hub motor is shot. From what I've been able to learn these bikes came with a Currie Electro-Drive...

Scavenging one nearly new battery to make another?

So I'm guessing the Panazonic batteries have much to low a 'maximum continues discharge' to be of any good in an ebike with a big thirsty motor?
