    3500 watt per wheel.

That's one of the bikes I built, and it is by far the fastest. No it's not made to go around sharp corners on bike trails, it's a racer made to cruise at 25+ MPH and that it excels at. I had Chalo blocked for several years because he's an anti-recumbent snob, please don't make me do it again.

    Nazca Pioneer solar recumbent build

Very cool project. You are planning on having that panel (which is wing shaped from a side view) able to be quick released for the windy days, right? Getting blown into traffic or into a ditch was always a concern for me when commuting on my fully faired recumbent e-bike in gusty high winds...

First battery build. 20s2p Does this look okay?

Lets says we number the cells A1 to A20 for the "A" side, and B1 to B20 for the B side. I'm assuming that You want a "bus" connection from: A1 to A2 B2 to B3 A3 to A4 B4 to B5 A5 to A6 And so on... You get the idea? Send us another drawing!

Expensive USA EV DC fast charging

Such digression... Most of us know this already but for those folks that are math challenged: Electric cars work best when you can charge at home. 99% of the driving done by most people is to go to work or run errands. This is fully within the range of all but the cheesiest of e-cars. For...

    Tandem into Mid-racer

That should work well with the remote steering. Make sure to keep your head forward of the rear axle for optimal handling.

    RIP AussieJester

AussieJester built some great bikes from scratch and made them work well with his disability. https://www.electricbike.com/aussie-jester/ It was always fun to read about his latest exploits and his friendly(?) rivalry with Hyena. Speaking of Hyena, I know he was having some health issues of...

Blue Dream: Maxarya Ray 2 Semi Recumbent w/high eff mid drive

LOL, I have a couple crank arms that looks like that because I needed clearance to too. MTB cranks are way overbuilt for recumbent use.

Issue with the rear shock on my Recumbent - new setup

I second the airshock suggestion. They are adjustable and have much better dampening, so when you hit a bump it doesn't launch you. The air shock is also is safer in the corners. Warren

Lightweighting and aerodynamic optimization of a subcompact car.

I have been down this road and have done research and some mods. What seemed to do the most for me was the partial belly pan I added. It started just behind the rear axle and filled in all the gaps up to the back bumper. I used coroplast and got about 2-3MPG on the highway which was amazing in a...

New build help. Is this safe?

With 20s 10p I'd get an 80A continuous BMS and at least a 100A controller. You won't need that much 99% of the time unless you are offroading or racing or a loon but it's good to have the overhead. Hopefully you get a controller that will allow you to set a max current of 80A and a min pack...

    ebikes.com or endless-sphere.com

IMO it doesn't help that endless-sphere.com is just an image of an infinity symbol. How do you know to click it? Obvious to you and me but to noobs? There should just be a redirect right to the forum. Does the homepage have all the keywords for the bots to pick up? And having a redirect at...

New build help. Is this safe?

Yes, it will work fine. Electricity doesn't care about changing direction, it won't cause extra heat. Keep the power connections beefy and make sure the cells don't move in the pack. Use a BMS to keep the battery balanced. Make sure to get one that supports your max power. Warren

    Converting my bike

Sure it's possible. If I were you I'd use a geared hub motor on the rear wheel. A crank (BB) mounted motor would work too but they usually need to be clamped to the downtube and have a wider BB installed. I'd be apprehensive about clamping a heavy motor to a possibly thin CF tube. Warren

    Spring or air??

I have used both. Air shocks die but they work well up to that point. Springs are more robust but you need to make sure that the dampener is actually working. Cheap MTB springs have fake dampeners which will cause handling issues.

Who makes 150mm or smaller square taper quality crank arms ?

Just ordered some from eBay. 152mm. $35. It took a couple weeks to arrive from china. They look decent. Search for "Bicycle Crank Crankset 5 arms 152mm Length BCD110 With 5 Hole For MTB Road" Warren

Why my lights, tv, and everything else isn’t flickering.

In almost all electronic equipment 60HZ AC is converted to various DC voltages with a transformer and other components to provide a stable voltage and current. Incandescent and fluorescent lights have some persistence to eliminate the flickering (though some people do complain that they can see...

    Pedal powered generator

Bearings seem fine. I'm assuming that these are old school ceramic permanent magnets. Unless they are abused by heat or physically damaged permanent magnets retain their magnetism for a very long time. I have verified that the winding still have resistance. I need to buy the capacitor and...

    Pedal powered generator

I have an ancient (1967!) Slo-Syn SS150-1077 driving motor that I bought about 25 years ago to use as a generator motor. It's rated at 120V and .4 A. It's rated at 72RPM so it's got gears in there somewhere. It should be easy to add some bike cranks and drive it via chain with very little gear...

new larger lipo seems worse, is it?

Yes, it's going to be hard to find a battery pack that beats LiPo. I had the same issue after replacing my 48v 10ah LiPo pack with a 20ah 48v pack. New pack is a safer formula (Samsung 25R) but more saggy. Warren

What the heck is wrong with UPP packs!?

Those are the power FETs. It looks like you are putting a higher continuous load on the BMS than the FETs can handle without overheating. Sometime you can add a heat sink to resolve that but the better resolution is to use a higher power BMS. What amperage is the pack rated at?

converting from gas to electric economy
