Thanks, yeah I've made a mistake with the diode. Yeah the two switch will be separate on the bike but on the full blown motorcycle it will be a real 2 stages switch. For now I only have a separate port bms but I will look into it. For the full size Motorcycle I will take a lot of time before...

After some rework of my diagram I've come up with this: I'm going to go with 2 contactor and 2 switch. Well I will use a 3 Position key switch so that OFF position cut all power, ON allow power to the BMS for the precharge and to the lights and horn and everything and the Ignition position...

Test bed for a future electric motorcycle

I'm planning on using copper for the battery connection and my first test with a copper nickel sandwich is fine with my malectrics welder but my electrode are getting welded to the nickel too and it's destroying them a bit. Would tungsten electrode help? This is the battery with a dry fit...

Test bed for a future electric motorcycle

Hi, i'm currently building a kind of e bike/ motorcycle. It will be cheap, underpowered and not really practical because it's just a test bed before I move on to a full blown motorcycle. It's going to be a middrive using a cheap flipsky motor and 4P10S Sanyo 2000mAh battery and a kelly...

I'm going to do a build thread then. Well after looking back at my schematic yeah one contactor controlled by the bms should be enough.

Thanks a lot. I put 2 contactor at first because on the Kelly schematic they use one between the battery and the controller but I suppose this one is optional ? For a build thread is this a e bike or already a motorcycle ? this will be on a bike frame but with no pedal.

Thanks for the explanation and the help. Yeah for now it's a cheap and underpowered e bike that will serve as a test frame before moving to a real motorcycle (with a real motor and battery). For the dpst you mean just use it to command the 2 contactor so that will allow a single key switch to...

Thanks, I'm planning on putting a switch on my bike, forgot to put it in the drawing. In the motorcycle it will be done by the key switch. I'm looking right now at how to do it in a single contactor while keeping the bms control over the current. I could completely bypass the bms and let...

Hi, What do you think if this schematic ? This is for a low power Ebike that will serve as a test bed for a full blown electric bike. That's why I'm testing the BMS Bypass to see how to do it (My BMS is capable of the power this bike will be doing). DO you think it's overkill ? It's going to be...

Electric motors in the 100-500€ range and buying them in Europe

They are measured the same way but the 5.4 for the motor is only if you use a 1:1 direct transmission between the two. If you use a 10:1 the torque at the speehub will be 54Nm

Thanks, those looks way better than the classic square one but i can't find completly modulare one like yours, only premade 4s or more. Can you ride on public road with your bike ?

Hub Motor options for Yamaha Tricity

The KW rating of QS motor are really low, they can sustain more. Read the thread about the QS 3000W motor where people are putting 72V 200A into it without issue. The 273 should be more than enough for your build. Even the 8000W.
