    Ping LiFePO4 batteries vs Ebikes.ca nicad (72 v)

No experience on max current x5's, but some experience with crotch rockets, which I'm guessing is somewhat transferable. I plan to have a cruising speed of about ~30 mph, but having a higher max speed than I intend to go is always nice, which is why I'd like an x5.

    Ping LiFePO4 batteries vs Ebikes.ca nicad (72 v)

It's gonna be a x5303 most likely, with a 72v 35 amp controller It's gonna be a bicycle frame Nope, bicycles in wichita are almost unheard of. A bike rack on a bus would make most people here go into an seizure. I'm not planning on having a trailer at all. I'll have my backpack on most...

    Ping LiFePO4 batteries vs Ebikes.ca nicad (72 v)

The rodes I take run through the upper-class areas of town, so they are all very well taken care of, so I don't think it will be an issue. I may consider big apple tires, But considering the weight of the kit I'd like, I definitely want a bike to support it.

    Ping LiFePO4 batteries vs Ebikes.ca nicad (72 v)

I'm looking to build a 72v 530X (not sure which one I want yet) and I'm not sure what battery I'd want. I'm torn between batteries and I was wondering if I could get some help. I ride about 20 miles every day and my ezip motor is just not cutting it for what I'd like it to do (but hey, at least...

    sulfating batteries after first use?

Ok. It's stopped corroding since I clamped the battery down. It was jumping on and off the terminal with every bump I hit. Thanks for your help.

    Strongest seat post rack

I got one from my local bike shop that had rivets holding it to the seatpost, and it seemed fairly strong. I'm not exactly sure where it is but I'll dig it up for ya. The only thing is, I replaced the (hollow) rivets with actual bolts. It's held up to everything I've put it through (college text...

    sulfating batteries after first use?

There's no date on the batteries. The sulfation is present after every ride though, and it's always in the same place.

    sulfating batteries after first use?

Ok, so after the first use and subsequent charge of my ezip I noticed that the terminals were sulfating! I'm not sure if this is normal after first use, I pulled out the batteries packs and checked them. They were fine, no corrosion on their terminals, just on the box. There are no terminal...

    Ezip trailz battery dissembly

Cool, I'd love some pics. Do you remember how much it weighed after all was said and done?

Cool, thanks. I couldn't find anything on google, this should really help. :)

    Ezip trailz battery dissembly

Has anyone taken apart their ezip battery? I'd like some more range (read NiCad or Li-Ion) from my battery pack, but one of the reasons that I bought the ezip is because of how well the batteries were stored in the rack. I was wondering how hard it would be to take apart the housing and put a...

    My gas/money saved log.

Some questions about your method real quick. In the first week you state that the price of gas on 4/18 was $2.29, and that you saved $2.29. Does this mean your car gets 12 mpg? What exactly are you using to determine the amount of money you saved? The money you would have spent on gas for...

Do you talk about ebikes to anyone IRL?

I park my bike near the restrooms in the resteraunt I work in. Every once in a while I get asked "Why is that bicycle back there plugged into the wall?" I tell them but most seem to think I'm some sort of lunatic. "Transportation without emissions? Madness you say!"

Oddest / strangest thing you transported on a bike?

During a local festival that jams up most of downtown I needed to pick someone up. I actually removed the front wheel of a bike, put the dropouts on the rack support, and tied the wheel to the handlebars of the bike I was towing. Towed it about three miles that way. Loved the looks.

A couple different questions (SLA batteries and thermal exp)

Ok, so I was reading about which battery to get, and I read somewhere that an SLA rated at 10 AH will only provide about half of what a 10 AH Li-Ion would. Is this true? Also, ebikes.ca sell triangular packs that would fit in my frame, but it would JUST BARELY fit in my frame (like, I wouldn't...

    overvolting LED's

 Ignoring that oversight (the actual battery is wire correctly) would it charge?

    overvolting LED's

They live! It's been a while and they're still alive. I guess 24 v will work. But I don't look foreward to replacing the batteries (currently running on non-rechargables) every so often. Would this charger setup work?

    WHY do You Ride?

I ride because I enjoy the fresh air and it's cheap. I'm getting a motor because I'm tired of walking into class or work all sweaty.

    overvolting LED's

Well, I think I'll leave them on for an hour and see if the LED's still run. Wiring them at 12 v really cuts the output. But for anyone wondering, here is a picture. Just so you know, the overhead light is two one-hundred watt equivilent CFL's

    overvolting LED's

It's acctually two series of ten totalling twenty led's. They're automotive ground effects, so I'm guessing they are at least water resistant which is why I got them. They do get very hot if left on for more than a few minutes though.

    overvolting LED's

Ok, so I set up a tail light because an officer pulled me over and told me mine wasn't bright enough (I can see the thing from a quarter mile away, I don't know why he can't). Anyway the new light assembly can be seen from just about a mile (rediculous?) I really really like it, but I realized I...

    Ping batteries

To make things clear, I haven't bought a thing. Depending on what I go with, I'm one to two paychecks (around a month) from getting everything ordered. I'd like to not pay for SLA batteries if I'm just gonna go straight to Li-Ion as soon as I get the cash, and if it comes to it I can wait a...

    Ping batteries

Well, the controller I'd be ordering is either a 36 volt 40 amp or 48 volt 40 amp. The 20 AH batteries from ping say they support a max continuous discharge rate of 40 amps and max discharging current of 60 amps. Would it hurt the batteries to run them on a 40 amp controller? There's supposed...

    Ping batteries

Does he sell from pingbattery.com, or is it just e-bay? And it seems they have a really low current rate, 20 amp continuous and 40 amp max. Would that power a x5305? If not, what sort of amp draw would I need for that? Does ping make batteries that would run well with this, or would I have to...

    Dual suspended E-bike

Ok, so I got a wally world cheapy (sort of), and am planning on making an e-bike out of it before summer, but I've got a few questions. First, I'm planning on getting a x5305 and slapping it in the rear wheel. Would the suspension be an issue? Second, I know i've seen them mounted, but I...
