    lipo and daily commuting

Do you have a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter)? You can learn a lot about the condition of your batteries by monitoring voltage. After a full charge, each battery (measure each battery, not all three in series) should be around 13.7 V under no-load conditions. As soon as you put a load on the battery...

    How about converting this bike?

Let me guess -- you are going to ride on the beach! If so, I would worry about salt water in the electrical components. Just a thought, not trying to dissuade you.

Tig welding looks iffy, pictures incl.

What material is the frame made of? Branded (Columbus, Reynolds, etc.) steel tubing? 4130 chrome-moly steel? 6061 Aluminum? 7075 Aluminum? Something else?

    San Diego hill climb

I haven't been to Black's Beach in a while. Maybe I'll go take a look at your road this weekend. I charge 12V batteries to 13.7 - 13.8V. I think your battery was less than fully charged when you started. I consider 11V to be 100% discharged. This hill is a serious strain on the batteries, speed...

    Smallest, lightest hub motor?

Let's hear a bit more about your battery. Is this a SLA (Sealed Lead-Acid) battery? If so, have you been keeping it charged? If not, better charge it. Also, if SLA, 10Lbs is too light weight for 36V, 15AH. It should be closer to 30Lbs.

Tres Terra Europa - Good buy???

I'm sorry I wasn't clearer. What I meant was that with that many miles on it, the bike (electric or not) should be gone over very carefully before putting it into use yourself. I have owned many bikes over the years and feel it is a good idea to give them a thorough inspection/servicing every...

Tres Terra Europa - Good buy???

Five-thousand-six-hundred miles? Wow. That sounds like about $100.00 worth of bike and $400.00 of your time and effort to totally disassemble the bike and rebuild it. Rims, tubes, spokes, headset, bottom bracket, brake pads, shifter cables, brake cables, deraillers, cluster, axle bearings...

Check out What's New From PhatCycles

I'll take both! But forget the bikes! :P

    Building a recumbent bike

Papa, Very nice bikes! How about some higher-resolution closeups of joints/welds and such. I'm interested in your construction methods. Brazed or GTAW (TIG) welded? Welding/brazing equipment used, jigs and fixtures? Source of BB shell, tubes, forks, dropouts, etc?

    New Dealers

I'm not impressed, but I'm an engineer. There are no specifications to speak of for their kit.

Please recommend a bicycle to add a motor to...

You do NOT want to use a DH bike for this project. 100mm of travel is more than enough for road and trail use. The big shocks on DH bikes are for big jumps and drops -- things you simply cannot do on an Ebike.

    Need help with my throttle!?!?

Your controller has three wires. I think they are: Red = 5V (approx) output to power hall sensor in throttle. Black = Ground (0V) reference. Blue = 0-5V input. 0V = motor off, 5V = full speed, intermediate voltages result in in-between speeds. Your throttle has four wires. I think...
