    Simple charger recommendations

Factory modules. Yeah this is a big pack so I'm ok with overnight charge outlet charge as I want to stick with normal 110v and not spend much. It generally stays topped off via solar. Wall power is for backup/convenience.

That would work, especially if I could fine tune the CV. Ideally looking for something fairly enclosed/ruggedized but I suppose I could just 3dp an enclosure for a MW. Have a favorite source for them besides ebay?

    Simple charger recommendations

Hey all, I'm looking for a no-frills and decently cheap 13s LiFePo4 charger. The pack is a pretty beefy, 13s12p of A123 AMP20 prismatic cells being used an the aux pack in my campervan. I'm all set BMS wise with the Orion Jr and so far I've been using a benchtop power supply to charge but now...

    Battlebot sponsorship opportunity

Hey gang! Been a while. Some of you know that I've been busy battling robots on ABC's new Battlebots TV show. Season one went extremely well and got signed for a bigger and better second season to be aired this summer! I'm going solo on a new build but need your help to pull it off. I'm...

Stompy: The Giant, Rideable Walking Robot

Hey ES, While not an EV, I think this vehicle is still acceptable by ES standards. I've spent the past four months working on a 19-person team as a part of Project Hexapod at Artisan's Asylum. We've been developing an 18-foot wide, 4,000 pound, 135-horsepower hydraulic 6-legged robot... that...

    does anyone build LiPo packs?

I can provide you with a premade Lipo pack and balancing charging solution. I had an interest check thread a while back which showed little interest. Here are some pictures. I have three 30C modules on hand ready to be wired. The modules contain 8x 6s 5ah packs which can be wired in 6s8p (22.2v...

Question the battery's 10 awg wire.

One option is always to just put one ring terminal on each wire and run a bolt with a locknut through them all, then you have a high current removable connection. Don't use a bolt that's too long then either wrap the whole thing up in electrical tape or use liquid tape. If you still want to use...

    Motorcycle class Hub Motor

Thanks for the press Mark. To ES: this motor is the real deal. It may be more expensive than an etek and an alltrax but I think the extra battery space is more than worth it. My ninja Mark linked to has 32s 60ah TS cells.

    Kelly and Magura trouble.

Hey all. What is the correct wiring to use a kelly controller and a magura 0-5k pot throttle? I thought I had it but I can't get it to work. Got annoyed and ran down to quiznos for the wifi just to ask the great compendium of knowledge known as endless sphere. The controller is a KBL 120v 270amp.

Thundersky LFP activation charge why ?

Well if voltage says anything (which I know sometimes it doesn't) all 32 of my 60ah TS cells shipped at exactly 3.31v from EVcomponents. Cells have been great so far, worth the 19 week lead time.

    RemoteContact's Grinhill inspired bike.

A Hardened sleeve is much cheaper, about 5 bucks. I'll go this route first and if it doesnt work I'll machine up some S7 shafts or something nuts. Where is the best place to get one way bearings?

What one-off bike should I build to sell?

The crowd (at least at my LBS) that spends the most cash is the ultralight road bike crowd with their CF everything. A superlightweight RC package on one of those bikes could be fun to design/build while being relatively cheap. I think also that the time has come for the RC crowd to swap forums...

    Packaging Non-Hub Drive Systems

    1) Motor/Gear Package Optimization – making them smaller, more reliable, lighter weight, interchangeable with different motors, noise reduction, cost reduction. I really think Grinhill hit it out of the park on this one. Smaller - You can't really mount anything else in the area a...

Rear-disc brake MTB for $260, Walmart

I just bought a trek 4300 disc very lightly used on craigslist. I've never ridden an amazing bike but I don't know what else to ask for in a hardtail bike with dual discs. Only thing so far is that the stock tires are treaded very aggresively so the rolling resistance isnt very low. I could also...

    Newby Questions

Hello and welcome. I'm new-ish here myself. Kv is rpm per volt so a 245Kv motor at 37v (245*37) = 9065 rpm no load. Now to the real world. Manufacturing tolarence of Kv varies from place to place with cheaper motors being usually more likely to be off. Reading reviews of only a few motors on...
