    New e-bike design in process

I take it the actual prototype will have pedals... but even if so, at 36v it won't be too much of a hill climber. I'd rather see a 48v set up if you seek a US market. I think your range is a bit optimistic as well. Looks kind of interesting though!

    Bafang Q's???

Can anyone give me an approx. top speed for a 48v / 750w Bafang (throttle only) with 52t chain ring & 11t cassette? I understand one of the great benefits of the Bafang / mid drives is the ability to utilize the bikes gears for hill climbing. But are there many users here who use it primarily...

    GRIM PAS BB torque sensors

I guess I mainly intimidated by the thought of drilling into my bottom bracket at such a precise angle/location. I know that seems simple to most of you guys!

    GRIM PAS BB torque sensors

Thanks for the feedback- and correction ;-). Ypedal- did you find the install difficult, at least from a novice's perspective? I find it to look a bit intimidating with all the "must be installed within 2 degrees.?" Grin now seems to be pushing the TDCM model which quite a few bucks less...

    GRIM PAS BB torque sensors

It sounds like most folks here either do the "throttle thing" or if they do PAS/pedelec they're more apt to go with Bafang. Please correct me if wrong...

    GRIM PAS BB torque sensors

Does anyone have any actual experience with any of the Grin bottom bracket torque sensor PAS units? I'm more than a little nervous about the install... drilling through the frame / bottom bracket specifically. I'd really appreciate any/all feedback/comments, particularly if anyone has actually...

    What tires fit a 32mm rim ?

FWIW I have a Prodeco "factory" ebike. It came with 32mm rims and 2.1 tires. They mount 2.0 - 2.4 tires on the same rims, depending on model. From what I've read, skinny rims were the norm on mountain bikes in past years, but more recently they have begun to get wider.

    What tires fit a 32mm rim ?

    Well 24mm x 2 (Sheldon's recommended/conservative maximum) = 48mm. 48/25.4 converts mm to inches as approx: 1.889" Hope that helps!

    BBSO2 & Downtube Mount battery

I think you'll find that EM3ev is one of the most respected vendors frequented here... particularly when it comes to quality batteries. A link is here: http://em3ev.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=35. He also sells the frame mounted batteries you refer to but describes them as...

    What tires fit a 32mm rim ?

If you're a fan of Sheldon Brown: "A general guideline is that the tire width should be between 1.45/2.0 x the inner rim width."

So I think I finally felt that ebike hate.

I think a true "purest" uses a bike first and foremost for transportation- and very few "of them" do. I think they're more accurately described as "elitists"- what do you think?

Ordering BBS02, afraid of the weight?

Since extra chain rings are only $10 each, I'd get both a 44t & 52t to play with. Latter would be great if as you say your on the flats! Given the short $$$ now you can't lose. If you wait until later the shipping will kill you!

leaving Lifepo4 sit fully charged for 2 days

+1 on that, I do it all the time. I also have a 36v LiFEP04 16Ah battery. I ride at least 3, often 6 days a week. I recharge right away. Alternative would be to wait 3+ hours whenever you decide you want to ride. Who wants to do that. No apparent ill effects on battery after 9+ months and...

Multiple Batteries / Mixed Chemistry Q?

I'm just a newbie and my (first) bike is a stock Prodeco Phantom X3 with a LiFEPO4 36v /16Ah battery in a sealed unit which I must admit has served me well over the last 9 months and 3500 miles. After exchanging emails with Paul @EM3ev I've opted to buy his 16.5 (bottle style) frame pack which...

Add a Bafang to a DD Hub Ebike?

I've clarified my OP a bit... either way I'm looking to add a "bottle" style battery. I was just noticing how little extra it would be to add a Bafang at the same time (EM3C). It would also give me option to go 48v if I wished, although I see that in bottle style the 36v has much more Ah...

Add a Bafang to a DD Hub Ebike?

I saw at least one user did this in an earlier thread. I didn't see many comments on it though. I currently have a 36v 500 watt DD w/ 16Ah LiFEPO4. I currently get 20+ miles "going fast"... 28-32 miles "normal" on my regular ride combining a fair amount of pedaling. But when I ride 40-50...

Multiple Batteries / Mixed Chemistry Q?

I currently have an ebike: 36v w/ 16Ah LiFEPO4 on a rear rack. Can I mix chemistries, e.g. add a frame mounted Li Ion 10S 6P, 29E cells, 36V, 16.5Ah? Can they be combined in parallel and/or used independently without issue? (I would isolate & charge each battery independently)

    EBike Candidate

I've also considered simply adding additional Ah to my existing bike. Obviously this would not increase my max MPH, but it could give me avg speeds in the upper teens for 50 miles. It certainly would be the most cost effective and simplest way to go. I currently have 36v w/ 16Ah LiFEPO4 on a...

    EBike Candidate

Upgrading my existing bike was actually my first thought. I tried to inquire with the manufacturer (Prodeco) who opted not to reply to my email. No surprise there, they have horrendous customer service. A dealer advised that all of my existing electrics, motor, battery, throttle, controller...
