    Bionx meltdown

Thanks, all! Not sure what we're going to do, and no time to take anything apart just now. Interesting though. Surprising to me that they put that board inside the hub. By the time my wife gets home and has come up the big hill, that hub is pretty hot. Ours is a 350, and it seems those eBay...

    Bionx meltdown

I don't think it was a regen problem though -- it was I guess right out of the driveway, and she was pedaling down the slight hill rather than coasting or braking. Also the hard-to-turn wheel happened without battery or controller hooked up. Just free spin. It seems to be something in the wheel.

    Bionx meltdown

This morning my wife and I set off for a little ebike ride. She on her Bionx P350, me on my Ping + BMC bike. Starting out, going down a slight hill, I passed her, coasting, while she was pedaling pretty hard. I thought, "That's funny..." and turned around. She was stopped by then, and she...

    Manufacturers and dealers to avoid

I just ordered a BMC kit from cycle9. Still to be shipped, but I ordered from them based on hearing good things. Last year I ordered a bionx from nycewheels.com, and they are responsive and supportive in every way. I'd give nycewheels an 11 on a 1-10 scale. I didn't order from them this year...

    GoldenMotors eBike Kit delivery time?

I've just been reading these forums, have no experience with GM. But from what I've been reading, I'd say it's anybody's guess when it might come. I suggest you dig into these forums and read relevant topics.

    Need Advise For E-bike

Agree with nutsandvolts -- have seen no bionx snobbery. It's a very nice system, with limitations, and for a price. It seems the bionx posters are aware of the matrix of benefits, costs, and limits.

    Need Advise For E-bike

I put a Bionx on a Townie for my wife last summer, and we've both put some miles on it. It's a beautiful experience. As pointed out above, the NiMH battery isn't (wasn't) as frighteningly expensive as the LiPo -- but that is discontinued now on all but the lowest power model. That's what we got...

    BMC 400W rear with 36V LiFePO4 -- controller?

OK, ordered from cycle9. I found the BMC kit from two other sources at a lower price, but from dealers without phones, and who have not yet answered emails. Cycle9 seems like a real store with good people -- nothing sketchy about it. Waiting for the Ping, and the kit; the Townie hanging in my...

    BMC 400W rear with 36V LiFePO4 -- controller?

I'm seriously thinking of putting the BMC motor/battery on my Townie (I've already paid for the 36V 20ah Ping). I've seen posts here that say that the BMC controller that comes with the kit won't pass much more than 20 or 22 amps. I've got some serious hills to get up on my way home. Hopefully...

AmpedBikes.com to sell a small geared hub motor

He's knocking the BMC motors on his site, but I haven't found any particularly bad comments on the BMC motors. Overvolting them seems to be hard on the gears, but otherwise no problems I've seen in all my searching. Are there problems with the BMC? That's my current plan, with a 36v Ping.

Where is everyone from? Meet and Greet? Visit and Compare?

Greetings all. I'm new here, as a poster. I'm in Vermont. Last fall I got a Bionx kit for my wife after much lurking here and everywhere I could, and I put it on a Townie 7. We live at the top of some nasty hills. Her 8 mile trip to work would be impossible on a bike in anything like either of...
