would simply putting a 48v battery make it have more power? I am assuming its A 30AMP controller, with 36v battery is the way to get the 1200 watts. I saw a similar scooter that said 2000w but had a 60v battery so I assume its roughly the same motor (brushless however) with a better controller and higher V battery. A controller change may be needed also of course (where would you find one)

here is the 2000w scooter http://www.hyperpowersports.com/products/new-2016-hyper-racing-gold-2000-watt-60v-electric-scooter-white-in-stock.html

More or less.

You might have issues with the motor not taking the extra voltage too well, I would look into what the motor you have is good for. Another option could be to swap the motor with a good brushless one such as the 6374-149 from hobbyking or similar and an esc to match. You might want to gear it down with the faster motor though.

Also, chances are the speed controller won't take more than 36 volts. If you put in more, it might release the magic smoke. That being said, it looks to be a brushed motor, and the controllers for those are very cheap on ebay.

Changing to lithium batteries could make it a little more punchy, but the same voltage will not really change top speed. I did a scooter recently-ish with 6s lithium and a 6350 motor. The motor didn't hold up too well, but a 6374 motor provided more power. Running on 9s would be great.
