I'm gonna build a 13s 4 (0r 5)p pack to replace my now waning, 7 y/o pack.

I have a source for the 4.2Ah 21700 cells I going to use, and already have some 0.25 copper strip for the interconnects.

Looking around for a BMS, I either find a myriad of aliexpress no-name, no warrenty, no comeback, cheap ones;
or ludicrously expensive 'named brand' (mostly US built) bricks that could probably supply the national grid when I'm not using it.

There has to be a middle ground of reliable, 'I've had mine for years and its not let me down' at a somewhat reasonable price?

How many amps do you need to push?
From people here, ANT BMS and JBD have been good brands.
If you don't need to push high amps, guys here have taken apart the smaller, low amp BMSes from Batteryhookup and found them to be excellent units as well.

Is the new pack the same series configuration and current capability as the old? If so, you could reuse the BMS from the original pack.

If not, then as noted above, ANT and JBD have been good for various users here, but I recommend getting them from them directly rather than from assorted aliexpress / etc sites, as there are fakes of everything out there, or even genuine ones that are "seconds" or even scrapped garbage resold as new (which also is not uncommon for cells themselves!).
